Biography

Anthony Barr was signed by the Minnesota Vikings to the practice squad on Nov. 14, 2023, and was elevated to the active roster for Minnesota's Week 11 matchup at Denver and Week 12 contest against Chicago. He was originally selected by the Vikings in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2014 NFL draft and spent the first eight seasons of his career in Minnesota (2014-21). The linebacker played the 2022 season with the Dallas Cowboys, seeing action in 14 games and making 10 starts. A four-time Pro Bowl selection (2015-18), Barr started all 98 games in which he appeared during his first stint with the Vikings. He recorded 495 total tackles, including 39 for loss, 17.5 sacks and five interceptions. Barr also forced eight fumbles and recovered seven, including a 27-yard fumble return for a touchdown at Tampa Bay (10/26/14) during his rookie season. It marked the first game-winning fumble returned for a touchdown during overtime in franchise history. A native of San Pedro, Calif., Barr played his collegiate career at UCLA from 2010-13, converting from running back to linebacker in the spring of 2012. He concluded his career as a Bruin ranked sixth all-time in tackles for loss (41.5) and tied for sixth on the school's all-time list for sacks (23.5).
