• Drafted in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Brian Flores' first draft class as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
• Started 42 of the 73 games he played in five seasons (2019-23) with the Miami Dolphins and recorded 250 total tackles, including 31 for loss, 17.0 sacks, one interception, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown).
• Returned a fumble 78 yards for a touchdown during the 2020 season, the second-longest fumble return by a Dolphin all-time.

2024 | MINNESOTA VIKINGS

• Started all 17 of the Vikings games during his first season in Minnesota in 2024, recording single-season career highs in tackles (79), tackles for loss (18), sacks (11.5), interceptions (two) and interception-return touchdowns (two).
• His 18 TFLs doubled his previous season best in 2021 (nine) and his 11.5 sacks were just shy of doubling his previous career high of 6.0 sacks during the 2023 season.
• Started his second career postseason contest during the Wild Card Round in Arizona against the L.A. Rams (1/13), logging three total tackles, 1.0 sack and a QB hit.
• Recorded seven tackles, including one for loss, and one pass defensed in Week 18 at Detroit (1/5).
• Had a share in a sack with LB Blake Cashman in Week 17 vs. Green Bay (12/29), raising his season total to a team-leading 11.5 sacks. He also had three tackles and one QB hit.
• Accounted for both of the Vikings sacks in Week 16 at Seattle (12/22), bringing his season total to 11. Also had five tackles and three QB hits.
• In Week 13 vs. Arizona (12/1), notched six tackles, including one for loss, and a quarterback hit.

• Made his Vikings debut in Week 1, starting at OLB at the New York Giants (9/8) and recorded the team's first pick six since Patrick Peterson vs. Chicago on (1/9/22), snapping a 34-game drought.
• Also captured his first sack as a Viking during the game's first quarter, becoming just the third player in franchise history since 2000 to record both an interception and a sack in a season opener (Harrison Smith, 2014 and 2018 & Kevin Williams, 2007).

2023 | MIAMI DOLPHINS

• Started 11 of the 17 games he played, collecting 69 total tackles, including eight for loss and a single-season career-high 6.0 sacks. He also had one interception and recovered a fumble.
• Notched his second career interception in Week 13 (12/3) at Washington.

2022 | MIAMI DOLPHINS

• Played in 17 contests, starting five, and amassed 47 total tackles, including three for loss, an interception and two passes defensed.
• Hauled in his first career interception in Week 12 against Houston (11/27), picking off QB Kyle Allen and returning it 23 yards.
• At Chicago in Week 9 (11/6), recovered a blocked punt in the second quarter and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown, marking the longest blocked punt returned for a touchdown in franchise history.

2021 | MIAMI DOLPHINS

• Saw action in 17 games, making 14 starts, and posted career highs in total tackles (71) and tackles for loss (nine). Also had 4.0 sacks, seven passes defensed and forced a fumble.

2020 | MIAMI DOLPHINS

• Started 11 of the 16 games he played, totaling 48 total tackles, including seven for loss, 5.5 sacks, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles and a fumble returned for a touchdown.
• Against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8 (11/1), returned a fumble 78 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, the second-longest fumble return in team history.

2019 | MIAMI DOLPHINS

• Appeared in six games, including one start, as a rookie. Notched 15 total tackles, including four for loss, 1.0 sack and recovered a fumble.

COLLEGE - SOUTH DAKOTA/IOWA WESTERN CC/WISCONSIN

• In two seasons at Wisconsin, played in 27 games, starting 10. Logged 99 total tackles, including 19.5 for loss and 12.0 sacks, seven passes defensed, two interceptions and four forced fumbles.
• In 2016 at Iowa Western, played in 11 games and logged 50 tackles, including 13 for loss and 3.5 sacks. Also recorded an interception and a fumble recovery.
• Spent two years at South Dakota (2014-15) and was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Freshman of the Year and tabbed to the MVFC All-Newcomer team as a redshirt freshman in 2015.

PREP - BOYDEN-HULL/ROCK VALLEY (IOWA)

• Played on both sides of the ball at quarterback and defensive back.
• In his career, amassed 176 tackles, 10 interceptions and 10 fumble recoveries.
• As a senior, recorded 1,466 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 1,413 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Posted 95 tackles and was named first-team all-state at defensive back.
• Also lettered in basketball and track.

OFF THE FIELD

• Graduated with a degree in agricultural business management in December 2018 from Wisconsin.
• Son of Henry and Karen Van Ginkel.
• Brothers, Kyle and Nate played linebacker at Northwestern College (Iowa).
• Married his high school sweetheart, Samantha, in February of 2020, and the couple has two sons - Leo Barrett, born in July of 2021, and Ripken Kai, born in February of 2023.
• Has two dogs - Ryder and Piper.
• Active in the community while with Miami. In 2023, visited pediatric cancer patients at a local children's hospital and hosted multiple fundraising events throughout the season to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
