Biography

James Pierre, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers following the 2020 NFL Draft out of Florida Atlantic, arrives in Minnesota for his seventh season in the league. In 95 career games with the Steelers, including 13 starts, Pierre has recorded 147 total tackles, four interceptions, 22 passes defensed, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, including one for a touchdown during the 2025 season. He started a career-high five games this past season and notched a career-best 11 passes defensed. During Pierre's tenure in Pittsburgh, Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores (2022) and Defensive Passing Game Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach Gerald Alexander (2022-23 and 2025) were part of the Steelers defensive coaching staff.
