Vikings-Cardinals Week 2 Injury Report: 4 Vikings Ruled Out Before Cardinals Game in Week 2

EAGAN, Minn. — Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr (knee), cornerback Harrison Hand (hamstring), tackle Christian Darrisaw (groin) and Everson Griffen (concussion) on Friday were ruled out before Minnesota's Week 2 game Sunday at Arizona.

The Vikings designated linebacker Eric Kendricks (quadriceps) as questionable.

Linebacker Nick Vigil (ankle) did not receive a designation.

Kendricks and Griffen were added to the injury report Thursday after fully participating Wednesday.

Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer said Friday that Griffen suffered the concussion during a car accident after swerving to miss a deer.

Kendricks led the NFL in Week 1 with 15 tackles in his return to action after missing the final five games of 2020.

When asked about Kendricks, Zimmer said, "He's good. He's all right. We're just being cautious."

Barr practiced on a limited basis on Sept. 8 but was ruled out before Minnesota opened the 2021 season at Cincinnati.

Vigil stepped in to handle the "green dot" responsibilities of relaying calls from the sideline to the defense and played well in Week 1. He recorded Minnesota's first sack of the season and totaled 10 tackles, including two for losses.

Of Vigil, Zimmer said, "Very smart, really composed during the game, nothing really bothers him. He can make adjustments real easy. I'm glad we have him. He's done a nice job."

Hand played 22 snaps on special teams and recorded one tackle. He also is the backup behind Mackensie Alexander at the nickel position. Darrisaw is continuing to work through a college injury.
