The Minnesota Vikings named Trent Kirchner assistant general manager on June 25, 2026. Kirchner assists General Manager Nolan Teasley with football operations and leads scouting operations following 16 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, including the past six as the Seahawks vice president of player personnel. Entering his 27th NFL season in 2026, Kirchner has played a role in 14 playoff runs, four Super Bowl appearances, including three with Seattle and one with the Carolina Panthers, and two championships – Super Bowl LX after the 2025 season and Super Bowl XLVIII following the 2013 season.
As Seattle's vice president of player personnel, Kirchner oversaw both college scouting and pro personnel, directing all aspects of roster construction and player acquisition. He played a pivotal role in the team's sustained success across multiple roster cycles upon joining the organization in 2010, with approximately 80 Pro Bowl selections earned during that span.
Kirchner joined the Seahawks in February 2010 as an assistant director of pro personnel. Following two seasons as pro personnel director (2013-14), he was promoted to co-director of player personnel in 2015 and spent five seasons in that role (2015-19), before being named vice president of player personnel.
Prior to Seattle, Kirchner spent eight seasons as a pro scout with the Panthers, contributing to a Super Bowl appearance, two conference championships and two division titles.
Kirchner began his NFL career as a Seahawks intern, splitting time between public relations and college scouting after volunteering at the NFL Scouting Combine. He then served as a college scouting coordinator for the Washington Commanders. A native of Fulda, Minn., Kirchner graduated from St. John's University with a degree in business management, where he played quarterback. He and his wife, Jessica, have two sons, Carter and Landon.
