Ryan Monnens begins his 25th season in the Minnesota Vikings scouting department in 2025 and his fourth as director of player personnel, after spending the 2021 season as co-director of player personnel.

Since being named director of player personnel, the Vikings posted a 34-17 (.667) regular-season record, including a 14-3 mark and playoff appearance in 2024, the second-most wins in team history. The team's nine-game win streak from Week 9 to Week 17 tied the third-longest win streak in club history. In 2022, Monnens played a key role in the Vikings winning the NFC North for the first time since 2017 and tying for the third-most wins (13) in a single season in team history.

Monnens spent the previous eight seasons as the director of pro scouting after eight seasons as a pro scout and three seasons as a pro personnel assistant. He began with the Vikings as an intern in 1998.

Monnens played wide receiver at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn., (1995-97) under legendary coach John Gagliardi, the all-time winningest coach in college football history. During his tenure at St. John's, the Johnnies won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in 1995 and 1996, advanced to the NCAA playoffs, and posted a 25-6-1 record.

A Minnesota native, Monnens grew up in Richmond and attended Rocori High School. Monnens earned his bachelor's degree from St. John's in 1998. Monnens resides in Excelsior with his wife, Krissy, and their daughter, Olivia.
