Rashard Hammonds enters his fourth season with the Minnesota Vikings and third as an assistant athletic trainer in 2026. In his current role, Hammonds assists with the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injured players. He works with the director of sports medicine and team physicians to determine if an athlete is physically fit for participation in games and practices.

In 2025, Hammonds helped plan and execute a 10-day international road trip to Dublin, Ireland, and London, England, as the Vikings became the first NFL team to play back-to-back games in two different countries. Alongside the player health and performance team, Hammonds helped successfully transition football operations overseas, maintaining the standards of care and support players received during a typical game week.

Hammonds played a key role in the Vikings training staff receiving a resounding stamp of approval when the NFL Players Association released the results of its "free agency report cards" during the 2025 offseason, ranking second out of all 32 teams. He also helped the Vikings to a 14-3 mark and playoff appearance in 2024, the second-most wins in team history.

Hammonds joined the Vikings in 2023 as an athletic training fellow, collaborating with the director of rehabilitation, head performance dietician and strength coaches to optimize long- and short-term rehab outcomes. He also helped with baseline concussion testing, physicals and injury summaries.

Prior to beginning with the Vikings, Hammonds spent two years with Clemson football as a graduate assistant athletic trainer while completing his Master of Science in Athletic Leadership. A member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society, Hammonds received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Florida in 2021.
