Jasper Brinkley returns to Minnesota for his second season as the Vikings director of player engagement in 2025, after playing linebacker for the club from 2009-12 and during the 2014 season.
Brinkley, who works closely with Executive Director of Player Development Les Pico, helps lead the team's efforts in player engagement and career mentorship. He also plays a critical role assisting rookies in their transition to life in the NFL and lends his expertise to the team during the NFL combine and during free agency period.
He appeared in 94 games, making 42 starts, during his seven-year NFL career that also included stints with the Arizona Cardinals (2013) and New York Giants (2015). Following his playing career, Brinkley launched his own trucking company, Brinkley Logistics, while also serving as a mentor and coach for several youth football teams and organizations in Katy, Texas.
A native of Thomson, Ga., Brinkley graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in African American Studies. He has supported the Vikings Rookie Success Program since 2017.
In recognition of his impact and leadership, Brinkley was honored by the NFL as Rookie of the Year in the Player Engagement space, a prestigious league-wide award that highlights excellence in developing, guiding, and supporting players on and off the field.
Brinkley and his wife, Kellie a bronze medalist in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2012 London Olympics have four children: Jawan, Dakyus, Tayla, and Jasper Jr.
