Opara joined the Browns after spending the 2004 season as a player personnel assistant with the Baltimore Ravens, where he served as an in-house scout and prepared special teams scouting reports, as well as scouting local colleges.

Opara originially signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent wide receiver in 2003 and went to training camp with the team before being waived at the end of camp. Opara went back to school and graduated from Princeton in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in politics.

Opara played collegiately as a wide receiver at Princeton and finished his career second in all-time receiving yards (2,198) and third in receptions (154). A native of Baltimore, Md., he served as team captain his senior year and was second-team All-Ivy League.

Opara is married to Megan and the couple have a daughter, Brooklyn Emiko Opara.
