Born and raised in Choteau, Montana, Rathman received his BFA in 1982 from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Based in Minneapolis, he has been a practicing professional artist for the past 33 years. His paintings and prints have been acquired by many museums, including the Whitney Museum, NY, the Walker Art Center, MN, the Getty Museum, CA, the New Museum, NY, and the Plains Art Museum, ND. Rathman's solo exhibits haven been reviewed in the New York Times, Time Out New York, Art in America, Art News, and The Huffington Post. In addition to gallery and museum exhibits, Rathman has completed major commissions for Nike, the San Diego Chargers, The Black Keys, Victory Magazine, and No Mas NYC.
