What'd They Say: Falcons Talk About Vikings

Here's a list of topics the Atlanta Falcons players and coaches addressed during media sessions this week in prepartation for the game against the Vikings on Sunday.

Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn on Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater:

"It's one of those things, as you go through the reel in terms of the preparation, his ability to create or a pressure may have happened and even it might have been, OK, third-and-8 or third-and-9 and he's able to convert a longer one. Sometimes that happens on a third-and-2 or third-and-3 and the quarterback has a 6-yard drop and scrambles up and gets it, but I was impressed by his foot quickness and the speed to convert and go. You saw the competitor because he wasn't going to slide. There were often times that he was going to run it, so those are the things that impressed me. I think the toughness kind of shows up on tape at that position, and I'm sure that's why a lot of the teammates have such respect for him."

Dan Quinn on Vikings RB Adrian Peterson:

"He's a really special player in our league and one we hold in high regard. As far as a better way or a unique way to stop them, if there was a blueprint for that, it would have been spread all around in the league. You better be disciplined in your approach and how you play because he's able to take a run that goes inside outside or a 4-yard run into a 40-yard run really fast. I don't know that there's a unique plan for it, but I think the discipline and gap control have to be on point."

Falcons QB Matt Ryan on Vikings S Harrison Smith:

"Harrison Smith has played really well. I remember from last year going against him for the first time and just being very impressed with how much ground he covers in the backend both in the run game and in the pass game, and also how physical he is. I think he's done a great job for their defense."

Matt Ryan on Teddy Bridgewater:

"I've seen him play a couple of times in passing, but I think Teddy has done a great job. There's obviously a lot you learn from your rookie season. He played well last year, and I think has continued to get better. I think he's going to play at a high level for a long time and has done a great job in his first two seasons."

Matt Ryan on facing the Vikings defense:

"I think on the whole, this is an outstanding defense. They tie-in well, the front end and back end. Their scheme allows them to play very aggressive and they're very sound in what they do. I've been very impressed with them when you watch them on film.

"You certainly take a look at as much as you possibly can and try and have yourself prepared for their entire package, but you also have to be able to adjust in game. It comes down to us being on top of our scheme and understanding what we need to do offensively, regardless of what they throw at us."
