Vikings-Bills Gameday Updates

View game action images as the Vikings take on the Bills at new Era Field in Buffalo, New York for the first game of the preseason.

9:00 PM - The Vikings get a 17-10 win over the Bills in their preseason opener in Buffalo. Everyone Griffen had a sack, C.J. Ham had a 2-yard touchdown run, and Taylor Heinicke had a 2-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Adams in the victory. Minnesota will continue its preseason slate a week from tonight in Seattle.

8:50 PM - The Vikings go three and out as Symmank pins Buffalo at its own 10-yard line with just over 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

8:46 PM - Vikings cornerback Sam Brown breaks up a third-down pass before Buffalo can't convert on fourth down. The Vikings have a 17-10 lead and take over at midfield with 3

3:30 left in the fourth quarter.

8:40 PM - The Vikings go three and out after Heinicke takes a sack on third down. Buffalo will start at its own 34-yard line after a penalty on the punt by Quigley.

8:36 PM - The Vikings defense holds the Bills in the red zone as Buffalo turns the ball over on downs. Minnesota leads 17-10 and will start at its own 17-yard line.

8:31 PM - Heinicke is intercepted on the second play of Minnesota's drive as the Bills take over on the Vikings 30-yard line.

8:26 PM - Buffalo pulls to within a touchdown after the Bills score on a 1-yard touchdown pass. The Vikings lead 17-10 early in the 4th quarter.

8:17 PM -The Vikings lead 17-3 at the end of the third quarter. Quarterbacks Case Keenum and Taylor Heinicke each led scoring drive sin the quarter as Minnesota score on the ground (2-yard run by C.J. Ham) and in the air (2-yard pass from Heinicke to Rodney Adams).

8:12 PM - The Vikings push their lead to 17-3 after a 71-yard scoring drive. Taylor Heinicke found Adams for a 2-yard touchdown pass to cap off the long drive. Heinicke ran for a first down on the drive while Terrell Newby picked up chunks of yards on the ground and through the air.

7:55 PM - Minnesota's defense forces a three and out after rookie defensive tackle Jaleel Johnson bursts up the middle for a sack. Adams muffs the punt but Jack Tocho recovers it as the Vikings keep possession. The Vikings will start at their own 29-yard line.

7:49 PM -The Vikings take the lead on a nine-play, 69-yard scoring drive. The Vikings picked up plays of 12, 14, 14 and 24 yards on the series before C.J. Ham powered into the end zone from two yards out. Marshall Koehn added the extra point to give the Vikings a 10-3 lead.

7:39 PM - The Vikings second-string defenses forces a quick three and out. Keenum and the Minnesota offense takes over at their own 31-yard line.

7:23 PM -Minnesota's offensive drive stalls near midfield as Symmank pins Buffalo inside its 10-yard line with a 49-yard punt. The Vikings and Bills are tied at 3 at halftime. Minnesota's score came on a 36-yard field goal by Kai Forbath. Everyone Griffen and Tashawn Bower have sacks for the Vikings defense.

7:17 PM - The Vikings force a punt after a sack by defensive end Tashawn Bower. Coley calls a fair catch as Minnesota takes over on its own 27-yard line.

7:09 PM - The Vikings and quarterback Case Keenum get into scoring range thanks to a 38-yard pass to rookie wide receiver. Minnesota ties the game at 3 as the drive ends with a 36-yard field goal by kicker Kai Forbath.

7:01 PM - The Vikings force a punt as the Buffalo drive stalls before midfield. Minnesota will take over on its own 22-yard line.

6:53 PM - The Vikings cross midfield after a pass interference penalty but are forced to punt. Quigley pins the Bills inside the 10-yard line as Buffalo will start at their own 3-yard line.

6:44 PM - The Vikings stuff Buffalo on a third-and-1 run to force a field goal attempt. The Bills kick a 42-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter.

6:41 PM - The Vikings and Bills are scoreless at the end of the first quarter. Minnesota has 34 yards of total offense while Buffalo has 91 yards.

6:38 PM - The Vikings first-team offense can't pick up a third down after a holding penalty wipes out a nice screen pass to Cook. Minnesota punts as Buffalo takes over as its own 39-yard line.

Trae Waynes has been downgraded to out for the rest of the game.

6:33 PM - The Vikings give up a 15-yard run on the first play of the series but respond with a strong sequence to fore a punt. Linebacker Anthony Barr had  tackle for loss and then forced an incomplete pass on a blitz. The Vikings will take over on their own 24-yard line.

6:26 PM - The Vikings go three and out as Bradford is sacked on the opening play of the drive. Buffalo takes over on its own 34-yard line after a punt by Ryan Quigley.

6:23 PM - Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes left the first series and is questionable to return with a shoulder injury.

6:22 PM - A holding penalty on Buffalo combined with an Everson Griffen sack leads to a third-and-31 situation for the Bills. The Vikings force a punt, which Rodney Adams returns 11 yards to Buffalo's 22-yard line.[

6:14 PM - Vikings rookie running back Dalvin Cook picks up a first down with two runs and an 8-yard catch, but Minnesota is forced to punt as quarterback Sam Bradford is eventually sacked on third down. Taylor Symmank gets the first crack at punting duties and booms a 60-yard punt that pins Buffalo at its own 6-yard line.

6:08 PM - The Bills win the toss and defer, so the Vikings will get the ball first to start their preseason opener.
