Transcript: Zimmer Addressed the Media on Friday

Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer

Big game on the road, excellent football team. We're going to have to play really well, take care of the football, make sure we possess it and try and get some turnovers, and go out there and try to play a good game on Sunday.

Q: With as many weapons as Kansas City has on offense, what are the challenges to figuring out where to allocate resources on defense?

A: Yeah, it's hard. They've got so many guys that are very, very explosive, including the running backs. They get them involved a lot in the passing game as well. So we'll just have to pick our spots and try and figure out situationally, down and distance and all those types of things.

Q: Do you anticipate Adam Thielen needing to test his hamstring out in pregame warmups before making a decision whether he'll play?

A: Well we'll probably put him through a workout, yeah.

Q: What do you think the chances are that Thielen can play?

A: I have a crystal ball, but I haven't used it this week, so I don't know. We'll have to see on Sunday.

Q: You've talked about their offense a lot. What about Kansas City's defense?

A: They're very aggressive. Lot of zero pressures, lot of doubling receivers. (Chris) Jones, who I anticipate will play, is a terrific pass rusher, had 15.5 sacks last year. (Tyrann) Mathieu is a really good player, they'll leave him playing man to man a lot on the wide receivers. They're going to be very aggressive, and we're going to have to make sure we're great with communication, because it's going to be loud. We're going to have to be great with the pre-snap communication and the points, and then we're going to have to take care of the football?

Q: Do you feel like the players believe that momentum is on their side?

A: I think they feel good about where we're at. Practices have been good this week, and I think they appreciated a couple days off, being able to get away and then get back here and get back to work.

Q: Do you anticipate activating Holton Hill for Sunday's game?

A: I haven't decided yet.

Q: How has Hill looked in practice this week?

A: Pretty good.

Q: With how loud it will likely be at Arrowhead this weekend, did you add an extra emphasis on pre-snap communication in practice this week?

A: Yeah, we had it pretty loud this week. But yeah, it can get really loud. We've down a nice job this week, so hopefully it carries over into the game.
