Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer
We're excited to get to New York and play a very talented football team. Young and fast defensively, offensively they're sixth in the league in total offense, so very explosive. We're going to have to do a good job and we're looking forward to the challenge.
Q: How does not having Mackensie Alexander affect Sunday's game?
A: It doesn't.
Q: How has Mike Hughes come along since returning from injury?
A: Good. He's good, he'll be ready to go.
Q: Has Hughes needed a couple of games to get back to full speed?
A: He missed a couple tackles the first game, but other than that he's been fine.
Q: With as much damage as New York does out of the slot, how does their offense change now that they get Golden Tate back in addition to having Sterling Shephard?
A: We'll just have to figure out where they're going to play Tate. Shephard is a very explosive guy. They get a lot of production from him and (Evan) Engram, so we'll have to do a good job on all of them.
Q: A couple weeks ago before the Oakland game you said you very confident Kirk Cousins would bounce back. Do you have similar feelings this week based on what you've seen in practice?
A: Yes. I feel good about it.
Q: How much has the passing game not putting up numbers been based on the team concentrating on the run, or is that a misnomer?
A: I think it's a misnomer. I mean in two games we didn't throw the ball, and then the other two games we threw it some. We're going to try and have balance, but passing game, there's a lot more to it than just throwing and catching. You got to have a firm pocket, you got to have protection in the right place. We can't miss our blocks, and then we got to throw it and catch it and get in the right place, be at the right depth, all kinds of things.
Q: Will Stefon Diggs play on Sunday?
A: I don't know, we'll see.
Q: Has he looked like the regular Stefon Diggs in practice?
A: I have to watch the tape.
Q: What are you basing the decision whether or not to play Diggs on?
A: I'm going to watch the tape.
Q: So it's how he looks, not punishment of any kind?
A: No, he's already been punished.
