Sign Up Friday for Mike Zimmer Foundation's Free Football Camp

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. –The **Mike Zimmer Foundation** announced Thursday its first free football camp will be held on May 20 at Winter Park.

A sign-up for the camp will open on Friday, Feb. 17 at 8 a.m. (CT). The camp will be open to boys and girls in grades 1-8.

According to the foundation's website, Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer, a staff of camp coaches and current Vikings players will offer hands-on instruction through "lectures, fundamental football skills stations, contests and non-contact games in a high-energy, fun and positive environment."

Youth will participate in activities based on age group to ensure maximum instruction for each camper.

In addition to on-field coaching, participants will also receive guidance on health and nutrition, especially as it applies to athletics.

The camp is described as a comprehensive experience suitable for athletes of all skill levels, whether rookies or veterans in youth football. Awards will be awarded to teams and individuals within each age group.

Participants will receive souvenirs from the experience, including a souvenir autograph from Zimmer (item provided – outside items not permitted), a camp team photo with Zimmer and a Mike Zimmer Foundation ProCamp T-shirt.

The camp announcement came one day after the foundation opened its **scholarship application** process.  Each year, two MVP scholarships will be awarded to one outstanding male and female athlete from the state of Minnesota. The scholarships will include $10,000 dollars toward a four-year university of the recipients' choice.
