Myles Garrett is a problem any given Sunday.
Minnesota knew that (anybody paying attention knows it), and so the Vikings made sure this past weekend in London that the perennial All-Pro wasn't able to game-wreck, like he does so frequently.
Consider the following:
- Garrett's 106.5 sacks before age 30 trails only Reggie White's record tally (108) at that milestone
- Minnesota's starting o-line in Week 5 was a different kind of beast; it featured undrafted rookie Joe Huber at left guard (for his first start), backup guard/tackle Blake Brandel at center (for the first time) and veteran reserve Justin Skule subbing for injured Pro Bowl right tackle Brian O'Neill
Also consider that left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who is in the mid stages of returning from an ACL injury last October, was on a pitch count versus Cleveland and left the game in the second half, which forced Skule to swap sides and second-year tackle Walter Rouse to enter the game and align on the right flank.
We digress. Minnesota's protection against Garrett was incredible – and that's a serious understatement.

The edge rusher nicknamed "Superman" was anything but super, registering two pressures on 35 pass rushes (5.7 percent), according to Next Gen Stats. That marked Garrett's second-lowest pressure rate in a game since 2021. So, how'd the Vikings get it done? Teamwork – five linemen plus more – is the answer.
Minnesota chipped Garrett with an extra blocker on 42.9 percent of his rushes (15 of 35), the third-highest chip rate that the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year has faced since at least 2018.
Furthermore, the five up front played with a chip on their shoulder.
Skule, for instance, entered the game allowing pressure on 14.3 percent of his pass-blocking opps in 2025. The 28-year-old swing tackle matched up with Garrett 14 times Sunday and gave up no pressures.
Not too shabby for a makeshift line, considering Garrett is one of, if not the best, at wrecking games.

A two-way threat for every team
Chuck Bednarik, Bronco Nagurski, Jim Thorpe …
There's a number of football legends who excellently manned offensive and defensive positions in their careers. The once common undertaking of playing both ways has become rare and even illogical, though.
In the simplest terms, the demands of doing so are generally viewed as too extreme.
While there's recent examples of players embracing multiple roles, no one's done it "full-time." Take former Patriots and Texans defenders Mike Vrabel and J.J. Watt, doubling as occasional red-zone threats.
Of course, the 2025 No. 2 overall draft pick, Jaguars rookie wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, is attempting to change the narrative of what's possible. His game on Monday Night Football was a start.
Playing 25-plus snaps on offense and defense for the third time in five professional games, Hunter flashed the two-way ability that earned him the Heisman Trophy as college football's top player last year.
To help Jacksonville stun Kansas City and move to 4-1, Hunter made an acrobatic 44-yard catch and furnished his final offensive stat line (three receptions for 64 yards) with two tackles and a pass breakup.
Hunter, clearly, has special abilities – not to mention unreal endurance – but is he really the only active player in the league capable of handling significant snaps and making a splash on both sides of the ball?

On Monday, ESPN's 32 NFL reporters identified a player from each team with an equally revered skill set.
Any guesses as to who is best suited for the expanded workload on the Vikings?
Kevin Seifert wrote the following:
The Vikings don't have any obvious candidates, so let's nominate Isaiah Rodgers, who has already scored two defensive touchdowns this season and also hit the highest game speed recorded in the NFL Next Gen Stats era. Rodgers got to 23.32 mph while chasing Steelers receiver DK Metcalf across the field on an 80-yard touchdown. At UMass in 2019, Rodgers fielded 53 kick returns for 1,295 yards, both of which ranked No. 1 among all FBS players that season. Rodgers has been begging Vikings coaches to allow him to return kickoffs, but he has been too valuable on defense to risk a special teams injury. Still, it's easy to envision Rodgers lining up as a wide receiver and simply outrunning defensive backs to an open space.
While we're at it, we may as well stoke the two-way flames with a few more offerings.
Another of Minnesota's cornerbacks, Byron Murphy, Jr., has the requisite speed, hops and ball skills to catch at least a couple dozen passes on offense. While Murphy's hands aren't as polished as Justin Jefferson's – Murphy left a few interceptions on the grass in his 2024 Pro Bowl campaign – he was a bona fide two-way star in high school, hauling in 88 receptions for 1,733 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior.
We're also intrigued by what Vikings outside linebackers Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel could do as tight ends. The former has as good of a burst as anyone, which could help him slip past coverage, and the latter has a special knack for intercepting passes that stress his hand-eye coordination.
