No team in the NFL deserves a crown after Week 2.

But 2-0 teams have made the playoffs 61.3 percent of the time since 2002 when the NFL established eight four-team divisions. That's at least intriguing. The Vikings, of course, won't attach any emotion to it because it's a one-week-at-a-time league, and any club can win any given Sunday. Still, there are trends emerging through two games.

They're worth examining, and that's what Ted Nguyen of The Athletic did Tuesday.

They include Minnesota's fanatical blitz rate and the fear it has created in opponents, Kansas City's explosive rushing attack and Patrick Mahomes operating from under center, and Cincinnati's impressive defense, anchored by veteran acquisition Dexter Lawrence.

Nguyen also wrote briefly about a "surprising" 2-0 team: Las Vegas. He concluded the Raiders "look like they are on the right path after years of dysfunction," following wins over the Dolphins and the Chargers, despite not having arguably their best player, Brock Bowers.

Former Vikings QB Kirk Cousins has clipped approximately 68% of his passes and is tied with Jared Goff, Dak Prescott and Bryce Young for the most passing touchdowns (6) so far.

Anyhow, let's dive into Nguyen's analysis of the Vikings after they limited Ben Johnson's offense, which he wants to reset the league scoring record and notched 59 points and six rushing scores in Week 1, to just 3 in rainy and windy conditions Sunday at Soldier Field.

Nguyen noted the Vikings are 2-0 (against the division, no less), largely without starting quarterback Kyler Murray, who entered concussion protocol during his second series against Green Bay, thanks to Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores blitzing at a historically high level.

Nguyen wrote the following:

Their 75 percent blitz rate after two weeks would be by far the highest ever if it sustains. One could assume the number will regress closer to Flores' 48 percent range, but with Flores, who really knows? Opposing offenses certainly are confounded. After a first half in which Packers QB Jordan Love connected on a couple of heaves in Week 1, the Vikings defense has allowed six total points in six quarters.

Flores isn't just sending all-out pressure. These are targeted blitzes aimed at weak points in the offense. They'll overload certain sides of the protection and create free rushers even when they don't have a numbers advantage. When the Bears went max protect (seven blockers), the Vikings rushed four, meaning they had seven defenders dropping to defend only three receivers. That's why Caleb Williams had to hold the ball so long on those plays.

In his analysis, Nguyen included screenshots and a breakdown of Dallas Turner's game-ending sack, in which Minnesota had six players showing pressure and forcing Chicago to account for them with a slide protection that left tight end Colston Loveland to block Turner and running back D'Andre Swift to seal the other backside gap. Ultimately, the Vikings only brought a four-man pressure, so they had a numbers advantage in coverage, and the Bears had an unfavorable matchup between Turner and Loveland that swamped Tyson Bagent.

Nguyen, additionally, highlighted Minnesota's improved run blocking, despite facing 8-man boxes on 43.5 percent of rushes.

Week 2 All-Stars

In a recurring segment this season, FOX Sports' Greg Auman is tabbing weekly All-Stars.

His debut list featured Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson and outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel for their efforts in the comeback victory over the Packers. Minnesota, by the way, was the lone team with multiple All-Stars in Week 1. This time, one Viking was tabbed.

The player who sealed the win and 2-0 start and raised his QB hits total in 2026 to 11: Turner.

We will add that Turner's 17 defensive pressures are the most by a player through the initial two games of a season since Stathead began tracking the statistic in 2018. The 23-year-old leads a Top 5 loaded with superstars: Joey Bosa (15 in 2020 at 25 years old), Aidan Hutchinson (14 in 2024 at 24), T.J. Watt (13 in 2023 at 29) and Khalil Mack (13 in 2019 at 28).
