Harrison Smith, Joe Berger Ruled Out for Vikings-Jaguars Game

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. —Safety Harrison Smith and Joe Berger have been ruled out for Sunday's Vikings game against the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

Smith, who leads the Vikings with 97 tackles tallied by coaches, is dealing with an ankle injury. He first hurt the ankle on Nov. 20 against Arizona but played at Detroit on Thanksgiving and against Dallas on Dec. 1.

The Vikings have Anthony Harris and Jayron Kearse, who worked in a combination earlier this season while Andrew Sendejo was out at Chicago.

Berger was diagnosed with a concussion during the Vikings game at Detroit and ended his streak of consecutive games played at 88 when he was unable to return to action against the Cowboys.

Nick Easton is expected to make his second straight start in place of Berger.

The Vikings also will be without Sharrif Floyd (knee).

Punt returner Marcus Sherels and reserve linebacker Edmond Robinson are listed as questionable. Sherels suffered a rib injury during a return against Arizona and has missed the past two games. Robinson is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Everson Griffen (hip), Tom Johnson (toe), Stefon Diggs (knee) and Captain Munnerlyn (ankle) fully participated in Friday's practice and were not designated on the report.

The Jaguars ruled out receiver Allen Hurns (hamstring) and tight end Julius Thomas (back). Hurns has 35 receptions, 477 yards and three touchdowns, and Thomas has 30 catches for 281 yards and four scores on the season.

Jacksonville also will be without safety Peyton Thompson, defensive lineman Jared Odrick and running back Denard Robinson.

The Jaguars listed center Brandon Linder, running back Chris Ivory and linebacker Dan Skuta as questionable.
