After Further Review is a deeper look at plays or stats after Vikings games …

The Vikings were able to put away their season finale against the Bears early in the fourth quarter with an offensive touchdown and a score by the defense.

Here's a recap of the two plays:

Q4, 12:16 left; Second-and-7 at the Chicago 10:

The Vikings turn to their Wildcat formation, lining up Jerick McKinnon in the shotgun and with Matt Asiata joining him in the backfield.

Minnesota sends Sam Bradford to the left edge of the formation and off the line of scrimmage. The Vikings have the combination of Charles Johnson, Adam Thielen and Jarius Wright in at receivers, with Johnson on the left and Wright wide right.

Minnesota briefly motions Thielen before the snap, but he returns without reaction from Chicago's defense.

McKinnon fakes the handoff to Asiata, but pulls it back after Bears safety Adrian Amos and outside linebacker Sam Acho key on Asiata. Acho's overcommitment toward Asiata allows McKinnon to zoom to the outside and pick up a block from Thielen on safety Demontre Hurst for the untouched touchdown run.

"We ran it earlier in the game, and I gave it (to Asiata)," McKinnon said. "I said that if we came back to it that I was going to ride it a little longer.

"The good thing about that play is that Adam Thielen made a great block to get me into the end zone," he added. "The Wildcat gives me the chance to make a decision. I felt like I could get around and get in."

Q4, 10:04 left; Third-and-3 at the Chicago 37:

The Vikings are in their nickel defense and have Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen in at defensive end along with Brian Robison and Linval Joseph at defensive tackle.

The Bears opt to double team Joseph with center Cody Whitehair and left guard Josh Sitton at the start of the play, which creates one-on-one matchups for Hunter, Robison and Griffen. Sitton slides over during the play to help left tackle Charles Leno, Jr. with Griffen.

Matt Barkley drops back nearly 10 yards to survey the field, but Robison beats right guard Ted Larsen and begins applying pressure that forces Barkley to step up in the pocket.

After breaking free from a block by right tackle Bobby Massie, Hunter sees Barkley step up in the pocket and begins his pursuit, nudging him closer to Joseph, who breaks free from Whitehair.

Hunter dives and grabs Barkley's leg, and Joseph is able to knock the ball loose at the 32-yard line.

Anthony Barr hustles from the 37 when he sees the ball and tips it backward as Leno tries to dive on it.

Griffen wins a footrace to the football between Barr and Hunter and secures it at the 20.
