EAGAN, Minn. — Will Reichard scored the first and final points of the 2025 Vikings season.
It's a fitting footnote for the franchise's first All-Pro kicker in more than a decade and fifth all-time.
Reichard was recognized Saturday as a First-Team All-Pro by The Associated Press a day after he celebrated his 25th birthday and two days after he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for December/January.
He joined Blair Walsh in 2012 and Gary Anderson in 1998 as the only Minnesota kickers so far to receive the best-in-class distinction that is a First-Team All-Pro. Jan Stenerud (1984) and Fuad Reveiz (1994) were Second-Team All-Pros. During an indelible campaign, Reichard converted 33 of 35 field-goal attempts and all 31 extra points.
It's also fitting that long snapper Andrew DePaola, the starting point for each of Reichard's kicks, has been named a Second-Team All-Pro by The AP, marking for fourth consecutive season he has been a first- or second-teamer.
DePaola was named First-Team All-Pro following the 2022 and 2024 seasons; he received Second-Team All-Pro honors for his 2023 campaign.
The special efforts for Reichard began in Week 1 when he contributed the first six points of the comeback win at Chicago. They continued when he powered a team-record 62-yard field goal heading into halftime in Week 3 against Cincinnati.

His remarkable efficiency featured the second-longest field goal in Lambeau Field history in Week 12 (59 yards), plus a 53-yarder to reinforce the lead and essentially eliminate the Cowboys from a playoff spot in Week 15, and a trio of field goals in a windy and cold setting at the Giants. To finish his outstanding second NFL season, he sailed 19 consecutive FGs through the uprights.
"Seeing Will become who we all knew he was going to be, which is one of the best kickers in the NFL, was really special for me," DePaola said.
Reichard was lights out driving the balls DePaola snapped between his legs to punter/holder Ryan Wright. The kicker executed each one of his 22 tries under 50 yards. His two misses occurred on swings from beyond 50, one of which, mysteriously, swerved off course. Many believe it ricocheted off a Skycam wire in the Week 5 game in London. Ultimately, he rewrote the Vikings record books with 11 50-yarders, topping Walsh's franchise mark of 10 in 2012.
Reichard's range overall was as excellent as any kicker in 2025; Brandon Aubrey and Chase McLaughlin booted 11 FGs from 50-plus, as well, but no one had more. Reichard's accuracy also was elite. He made 94.3 percent of his attempts to finish third among qualifying kickers after Nick Folk and Eddy Piñeiro — both went 28-for-29 (96.6%); the latter, however, missed four extra-points.
A sixth-round draft pick in 2024, Reichard was electric to watch, upholding his nickname "Will the Thrill."
Shortly before the season finale, Special Teams Coordinator Matt Daniels rhapsodized about Reichard's portfolio, which included a league-record-tying 59-yard field goal at Soldier Field going against the wind.
"I think the — not really unfortunate part — but we really haven't had those ice-in-the veins kind of walk-off winning field goals yet in his career," Daniels said. "But in moments when we needed him the most, whether it's to go up by three with two minutes left in the game (Reichard owns four FGs in the last 2:00 since 2024) and the defense has got to get a stop, or it's to put ourselves in a position to basically go up another possession … he's been able to do that and capitalize on those big moments."
"I think it's just a credit [to] who this guy is," Daniels added, noting Reichard is wired the right way. "He does an unbelievable job of communicating with 'Mr. Wright' (Ryan Wright) and 'Po' (DePaola) just in terms of how he likes things to be [operated]. He's very direct, which you really appreciate."

Head Coach Kevin O'Connell extended similar praise Reichard's way as the 2025 season wound down.
"My confidence in him is supreme; it couldn't be higher," he said, explaining how valuable it is "when your kicker can go out there and you can pretty much lock it in that you're going to get three points."
"He's earned that," continued O'Connell, "to have the expectation of not only myself, but Matt, and everybody on our football team, that he's going to go out there and do his job. He's been phenomenal."
Reichard is the youngest First-Team All-Pro kicker since Miami's Jason Sanders in 2020 (25). He is now one of 12 kickers total, age 25 or younger (including a 22-year-old Walsh), to garner First-Team honors.
In 30 games, Reichard is 57-for-65 (87.7%) on attempted field goals, and he is perfect on 69 extra-points.
DePaola last year made history as the first long snapper to ever receive a nod to the Pro Bowl in three consecutive years; though he wasn't voted to the all-star game this year, All-Pro is a significant recognition based strictly on on-field performance.
DePaola, who served as a season-long captain for the second consecutive season, anchored a Vikings specialist group that was outstandingly consistent throughout the season.
Wright also excelled in 2025 after snaps by DePaola, tying for fifth in gross punting average (49.0), ranked third with a net average of 44.5 and boomed the longest punt of the season (77 yards).
