EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings are hosting a division rival to kick off the 2026 season.

The 2026 NFL schedule has been released, and Minnesota is slated to open at home against the Packers.

Minnesota and Green Bay have met to open eight previous seasons (1962, 1974, 1992, 1994, 2003, 2020 and 2022), but this will be just the third time the Packers visit the Twin Cities on Kickoff Weekend.

The Vikings are 1-1 in such games; Green Bay took the 43-34 victory at U.S. Bank Stadium in 2020, and Minnesota won 23-7 in 2022.

The Week 1 Border Battle is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcast on CBS.

WEEK 6 - BYE

Week 2 features another NFC North matchup, as the Vikings head to Chicago for a noon (CT) kickoff. Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson will battle each other for the third time since Johnson took the helm in Chicago.

The Bears game is the first of back-to-back roadies for Minnesota, who will be welcomed to Tampa Bay by Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers Week 3.

In Week 4, Minnesota will host another Florida team, the Miami Dolphins, to start its October slate of games.

Ready for the Big Easy? The Vikings will travel to New Orleans in Week 5 and take on Chris Olave and crew.

For the third straight season, Minnesota's bye falls on Week 6.

The Vikings will come back after the break to host Indianapolis for a noon kickoff on CBS.

Week 8 features a Ford Field faceoff and first meeting with the Lions of the season.

Minnesota will play its first prime-time game of 2026 in Week 9, when it faces Josh Allen and the Bills on a Monday Night Football stage. This is currently scheduled as the Vikings sole MNF appearance of the campaign.

Consecutive road games will have the Vikings travel to Green Bay to wrap up the Border Battle series in Week 10, then travel to Mexico City (¡Vamos Vikings!) to take on the 49ers. The Sunday Night Football game — and Minnesota's first time playing in Mexico — will air on NBC.

The Vikings will follow up back-to-back away contests with two straight home games against NFC South foes: against the Falcons in Week 12 and against the Panthers in Week 13.

Then it will be time for a quick turnaround to Thursday Night Football in New England, where the chance of snow at the Patriots outdoor stadium is significantly greater than zero.

The Vikings will play two divisional teams in the last four weeks of the regular season, starting with hosting the Lions for a prime-time Week 15 game. Minnesota hosted Detroit for a Christmas Day game last season; this year, it falls five days ahead of the holiday.

Week 16 marks the second December in a row the Vikings will host the Commanders at U.S. Bank Stadium, day and time yet to be announced. Then, the Vikings will head to MetLife Field once again for a late-season visit … though with the Jets this time around after playing the Giants there last December.

Minnesota will wrap its 2018 regular season with an NFC North showdown against Chicago.

Week 1 vs. Green Bay Packers: The Vikings will open at home for the first time since 2023.

Week 2 at Chicago Bears: The Vikings are headed to Chicago early on again this season and will face Caleb Williams and Company. This is the first time the Vikings have visited the Bears in Week 1 or Week 2 of consecutive seasons since 2001-02.

Week 3 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A second straight road game will take the Vikings from the Windy City to the Sunshine State for a likely balmy matchup against Baker Mayfield and the Bucs.

Week 4 vs. Miami Dolphins: Back-to-back Florida teams? The Vikings will host the Dolphins at U.S. Bank Stadium for the first time since 2018 and just the second time overall.

Week 5 at New Orleans Saints: Minnesota will play New Orleans in the regular season for the third time in Kevin O'Connell's tenure. This will be O'Connell's first visit to the Big Easy, where he was named 2024 NFL Coach of the Year, as Vikings head coach.

Week 6 bye: For a third consecutive season, the Vikings will take their break early in the season.

Week 7 vs. Indianapolis Colts: The Vikings will seek their third straight win over the Colts since O'Connell took the helm in Minnesota in 2022.

Week 8 at Detroit Lions: The Vikings will kick off their series with Detroit on the road and open the month of November in the Motor City for the second consecutive season.

Week 9 vs. Buffalo Bills: The last contest between the Vikings and Bills was one for the ages, as Minnesota defeated the AFC team 33-30 in overtime thanks to a Greg Joseph field goal. The chances of each team scoring within the final minute of the contest doesn't feel likely, but it's happened before…

Week 10 at Green Bay Packers: The Vikings are 4-4-1 in their past nine trips to Lambeau Field.

Week 11 at San Francisco 49ers (in Mexico City): This will mark Minnesota's third International Series game in two seasons and first time playing in Mexico.

Week 12 vs. Atlanta Falcons: The Vikings have won six of the past eight matchups with Atlanta. They will see a familiar face in Falcons Head Coach Kevin Stefanski, who took the NFC South job after being relieved of his duties in Cleveland following last season.

Week 13 vs. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers will visit U.S. Bank Stadium for the first time since 2020 — their first time ever with fans in the stands.

Week 14 at New England Patriots: Minnesota will have a short week heading into this Thursday Night Football contest on the road, it's first appearance in New England since December 2018.

Week 15 vs. Detroit Lions: After a mini bye following TNF in New England, the Vikings will return home to host a divisional game against Detroit.

Week 16 vs. Washington Commanders: Minnesota will look to defeat Washington once again after commanding a 31-0 victory last December.

Week 17 at New York Jets: Back to MetLife Stadium, this time to face Geno Smith and the Jets in an outdoor game that will likely feature wind and could feature precipitation.

Week 18 vs. Chicago Bears: The Vikings will host the NFC North defending champs to close out the regular season at home.

Preseason 1 at New York Giants: The Vikings and Giants haven't played each other in the preseason since 1999.

Preseason 2 vs. Baltimore Ravens: Minnesota and Baltimore last faced each other in the preseason in 2008 — a game in which Stephen Hauschka made three field goals for the Vikings. He was released in favor of Ryan Longwell during the preseason and signed with the Ravens.

Preseason 3 at Denver Broncos: Young Vikings will make their case for a spot on the 2026 53-man roster, including rookie and Denver native Arden Walker, whom Minnesota signed as an undrafted free agent.
