Vikings Sign Henderson, Release Abernathy

Eagan, Minn. (July 24, 2019) – The Minnesota Vikings announce the following roster moves:

De'Angelo Henderson (5-7, 208) joins the Vikings after being waived by the New York Jets on 7/23/19. Originally drafted in sixth round (203rd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, Henderson has appeared in eight games throughout his NFL career, five with the Broncos as a rookie in 2017 and three with the Jets during the 2018 season. The Summerville, South Carolina, native has totaled nine rushes for 32 yards and two receptions for 36 yards and one touchdown as a pro.

A graduate of Coastal Carolina University, Henderson set a NCAA Division I record by scoring a touchdown in 35 consecutive games for the Chanticleers, spanning every game he appeared in during the 2014-16 seasons. Named the 2016 Big South Offensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the 2016 Walter Payton National Offensive Player of the Year, Henderson totaled 4,635 rushing yards and 58 touchdowns on 721 attempts along with 97 receptions for 921 yards and six touchdowns in four seasons (2013-2016) at Coastal Carolina.
