Vikings Officially Re-Sign LB Chad Greenway

The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed 11-year LB Chad Greenway, the club announced today.

Greenway returns for his 11th NFL season in 2016, having played in 140 career games with 135 starts, all as a Viking. The 2-time Pro Bowler led the Vikings in tackles from 2008-13, joining Scott Studwell as the only Viking to lead the team in tackles for 6-straight years. On 11/3/13, Greenway became the 7th player in franchise history to record over 1,000 tackles and only the 5th LB to achieve the feat. During the 2015 campaign, the Mount Vernon, S.D., native recorded 86 tackles, 4 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, 1 INT and 1 PD. His 91-yard INT returned for a TD vs. San Diego (9/27/15) was the 5th longest INT returned for a TD in team history. Greenway, who currently ranks 4th in team history in career defensive tackles with 1,289, originally joined the Vikings as the 17th overall selection in the 2006 NFL Draft. In addition to his on-field success, Greenway has been named the Minnesota Vikings Community Man of the Year 3 times (2011, '14, '15) and was selected the 2015 Byron 'Whizzer' White Award winner by the NFL Players Association, a league-wide honor given annually by the NFLPA for work done in the community.
