EAGAN, Minn. – The Vikings and UNRL are joining forces again.
UNRL, an athleisure clothing brand based in St. Paul, has announced it is continuing its unique partnership with the NFL and the Minnesota Vikings.
The UNRL x Vikings collaboration will feature six new, co-branded sweatshirts as part of the "Hometown Collection Vol. 2." All-new styles that combine UNRL's high-end fabrics and design with the rich tradition and excellence of the Vikings organization.
The decision to return the program was made after last year's launch was a roaring success, with hoodies selling out nearly immediately each time.
"Releasing the Hometown Collection last year was something special – and the response certainly exceeded our expectations," said UNRL Chief Executive Officer Michael E. Jordan.
"We set a goal to sell out, but I don't think anyone predicted it would happen in a matter of minutes. Nor did we realize we would be shipping to Vikings fans all over the world."
Vikings Manager of Partner Experience and Activation Jordan Ramsey shared similar sentiments.
"The excitement and fan responses from 2021 far exceeded what we expected in our first year of a Limited License program," Ramsey said. "We had watched previous successes of other NFL Clubs with their Limited License programs, so we had a benchmark of how we would measure success, and the fans helped us zoom past that. We knew we needed to bring this back for a second season."
Each of the six new innovative designs will be released one at a time, corresponding with the first six Vikings home games.
"Honestly, I wasn't sure how we were going to top the sweatshirts we made last year – but I can assure you, we did," Jordan said.
"On behalf of my team at UNRL, I'm proud to announce we're coming back with Vol. 2 – and this year, we're turning it up a notch," he added.
One of the aspects that make this collaboration special is the partnership between two Minnesota-based brands.
"There's strength with using a hometown company to support the hometown team," Ramsey said. "Bringing both brands together, we have been able to curate a line of products that we feel Minnesotans are proud of and eager to wear."
Vikings players have individually expressed an affinity for the UNRL brand, as well, and two fan-favorites are launching their own partnerships this season.
Safety Harrison Smith has teamed up create his own collection of hats, and wide receiver Adam Thielen has his own clothing line coming out.
"Adam and Harrison launching their own collections helps us grow our story with UNRL," Ramsey said. "Not only are they a product our fans love to wear, but it is something we are seeing our players wear more frequently off the field. We are happy to partner with a company that our players are comfortable with and want to do business with."
