Transcript: Zimmer Addressed the Media Friday

*Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer *

Okay, I'm going to challenge the fans this week to see if they can get loud for a day game. Let's see how loud we can make this place.

Q: There's reports that Andre Smith is going to IR, are there any concerns about his injury?

A: I don't know. We'll see.

Q: Has there been consideration for that this week?

A: Not for this week. We'll take a look next week and see what's up.

Q: How do you feel that changes things on the offensive line?

A: I don't know. What do you want me to say?

Q: What if Jeremiah Sirles does well?

A: Well, he's played good the last two times he's been in there, so we'll see.

Q: Have you been prepping one of the younger guys to play tackle too?

A: Yes, we have. We've been doing this for a while.

Q: How has Willie Beavers come since this offseason?

A: Better. He's doing good.

Q: Where does he need to make the biggest leap?

A: He needs to make a big leap everywhere. His technique, moving inside, using his hands. It's a big jump going from college to the NFL on the offensive line.

Q: Do you expect Stefon Diggs to play on Sunday?

A: I don't know. We'll see.

Q: Would it be Adam Thielen who would likely get more time if Stefon Diggs can't play?

A: I don't know. We'll see.

Q: How has Jarius Wright's demeanor been these past few weeks?

A: Very good. Very good. Yeah, very good. He's always a great kid, works hard and prepares himself every week.

Q: You've faced some teams that have used some three-wides on you. How about Houston, do they tend to do a lot of that, as well?

A: Yeah, they've got Braxton Miller, he'll be back this week in the slot. They've got, obviously [Will] Fuller and [DeAndre] Hopkins. Sometimes they go four-[wide].

Q: With all the injuries, is the bye coming at a good time for you this year?

A: I don't know. We're just thinking about Houston right now. We're not worried about all that other stuff. We'll regroup after the game.

Q: You mentioned the three-wide sets. What separates the Houston receivers from the receivers you've faced already? You've seen some top talent.

A: They're all different guys. Fuller is real fast, Braxton Miller is maybe the fastest, and Hopkins is a big, physical guys that can go up and get the ball, great hands. Sets of receivers are different, but these guys are good.

Q: What have you seen from their return game? Will Fuller looked pretty good last week.

A: Yeah, he did a nice job. We're going to have to do a great job of covering punts. We didn't do very good in kickoff coverage last week. So, that has to improve.
