EAGAN, Minn. — Myles Price is the right man for NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September 2026, the NFL announced Thursday.

Price finished the opening month of his second pro season leading the NFL in kickoff returns (12), kickoff return yards (353), punt return yards (130), yards per punt return (21.7) and delivered the only punt return TD in the NFL so far this season.

Price totaled 130 yards on six punt returns. His 21.7-yard average was boosted Sunday by his 86-yard punt return for a touchdown at Tampa Bay that he dreamed of before making it a reality.

The 86-yard runback was Minnesota's first punt return touchdown since Oct. 9, 2016, a run of 162 games since Marcus Sherels' 79-yard return score against the Texans in the third regular-season game at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The score gave Minnesota a 10-point lead early in an eventual 23-16 win and led to Price being named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 3. He finished the contest with a Vikings single-game record of 238 return yards (132 on kickoffs and 106 on punts).

Price also made a major impact as a kickoff returner during the month. In Week 1 with Minnesota trailing 22-10 in the third quarter, Price popped a kickoff return of 68 yards to the Green Bay 28-yard line, setting up Minnesota for a short-field possession that ended with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Carson Wentz to T.J. Hockenson. That score keyed 29 consecutive points by the Vikings in the comeback victory over the Packers.

Price is the eighth different Viking to win an NFC Special Teams Player of the Month award and keeps the distinction in Purple, continuing from Will Reichard claiming the honor for December/January (those months are combined). Price also is the sixth player on offense, defense or special teams to win a player of the month award during Head Coach Kevin O'Connell's tenure.
