EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings will play in Mexico for the first time in franchise history, the NFL announced Wednesday morning.
Minnesota will visit the San Francisco 49ers at Estadio Banorte during Week 11 for the 2026 NFL Mexico Game that will be shown on NBC's Sunday Night Football.
This will be the third regular-season NFL game in Mexico played in by the 49ers, who had been announced as the home team in February.
San Francisco launched the NFL's regular-season history in Mexico on Oct. 2, 2005, when it played Arizona (a 31-14 win by the Cardinals) in front of 103,467 fans.
The franchises met for a rematch of sorts on Nov. 21, 2022, with the Niners prevailing 38-10 in the most recent game in Mexico.
The contest is one of a record nine international games across four continents, seven countries and eight stadiums in 2026.
Minnesota's complete schedule for 2026 will be announced at 6:30 p.m. (CT) on Thursday, May 14 on Vikings.com and the team's official app and social media channels.
The Vikings completed a historic double-dip in 2025, becoming the first NFL team to play consecutive international games in different countries, falling to the Steelers in Ireland and rallying past the Browns in the United Kingdom.
This will be Minnesota's seventh regular-season international game and 11th overall (including four preseason contests). The Vikings are 5-1 in the regular season and 4-0 in exhibition games.
