EAGAN, Minn. — Through 20 years of ownership of the Vikings, the Wilf family has persistently worked toward bringing a Super Bowl title to Minnesota, making positive impacts in the community and creating a truly unique game-day atmosphere.
Those goals remain important ways the family shows its appreciation for the opportunity to be "stewards of a tremendous community asset."
Owner/President Mark Wilf participated in an annual media session Wednesday fielding, an array of questions about the continuity provided through contract extensions this offseason for Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the continued efforts to rebuild the roster through free agency and the environment created to help players and their families thrive.
In his opening comments, Wilf also mentioned two Vikings Legends and announced the team plans to wear a helmet decal this season in honor of 14-time captain Jim Marshall, who passed away June 3 at age 87.
"No player in this team's history lived the ideals of toughness, camaraderie, passion and leadership more than Jim. He was a quiet but effective leader," Wilf said. "In our minds, he's the greatest captain in NFL history, and there is no question he also belongs in the Hall of Fame for what he accomplished over his 20-year career.
"We plan to honor Jim with a helmet decal throughout the 2025 season and are working on plans to recognize him and his family during Legends Weekend when we face the Bengals in September," Wilf added.

Additionally, the Vikings plan to host Marshall's family members at Vikings Training Camp on Aug. 7 for a "Jim Marshall Celebration Day."
Wilf also extended congratulations to Jared Allen on his upcoming enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where festivities begin tomorrow and build to Saturday's ceremony.
"Jared was such an impactful piece and continues to be an impactful piece of our organization," Wilf said. "During his time in Minnesota he put up tremendous numbers, but he was great in the community and with the fans, and he continues to be a great representative of the Vikings, and he's certainly deserving of this honor."

1. On the Vikings status heading into 2025
"We were intentional in the moves we made this offseason, with free agency and the draft to strengthen our team," Wilf said. "We added several guys that fit what we want in terms of tough, smart and selfless guys who love to play football. We are grateful to have the extensions done with both Kwesi and Kevin because we continue to believe they are the right leaders for our club. Now it's about putting in the work and focusing on daily improvement at camp and continuing to build the identity of the team."

2. On the culture that's been built helping recruit free agents
"I think Coach O'Connell personifies that so well, just bringing the kind of culture where we care about our players first and foremost. And yes, the facilities are important, the building is important, but it's also about people. And I think from every coach, every scout, every business staff person here, there's a sense that we want to build a team and culture that everyone wants to be around.
"That could be having family lounges at our stadium, or the kind of facilities where our players feel welcome and that they can hone their craft and perfect their skills," Wilf added. "Those are the kind of things that we want to keep promoting."
3. On the potential of Minnesota hosting an NFL Draft
Wilf emphasized collaboration with Minnesota events groups that have previously succeeded in hosting Super Bowl LII and the 2019 Men's Final Four.
"We've shown we can do big events," Wilf said. "It will be an outstanding venue when we get it, and we're working very hard to get it here."

4. On the historic double dip of playing in Dublin and London
The Vikings will make history in Weeks 4-5 by becoming the first NFL team to play consecutive international games in different countries.
Minnesota will play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 in Dublin in the NFL's first regular-season game in Ireland, before returning to London for a Week 5 game against the Cleveland Browns.
Wilf was asked about the franchise's willingness to do so.
"We wanted to make sure the football folks were on board with it, but we've always been very supportive of the international growth of the game of American football, which we think is the greatest sport in the world," Wilf said. "I think it's proven in the support, the attendance, that these games gather, the interest, and so we're always supportive, and the fact that it was back-to-back, that worked out conveniently. We're looking forward to the opportunity."
