EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Tuesday announced a series of roster moves that included signing outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy and second-year quarterback Max Brosmer from their practice squad to their 53-man roster.

Van Noy initially joined Minnesota's practice squad before the season and has been elevated for each of the past three weeks, reaching the maximum for elevations of a player to the 53-man roster without additional moves.

He has shown veteran prowess and power in reuniting with Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores after they had overlapped at New England (a run that included two Super Bowl wins) and Miami. Van Noy has recorded seven tackles, including four for losses and 1.5 sacks, fitting in with an aggressive rush unit.

Brosmer spent the entire offseason with Minnesota and was one of four quarterbacks on the initial 53-man roster. He was then waived and signed to the practice squad.

The Vikings traded third-year QB J.J. McCarthy to the New York Giants on Monday, opening up a roster spot for Brosmer, who will be Minnesota's emergency QB behind Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz. Brosmer appeared in seven games and made two starts in 2025.

Minnesota also placed tight end Josh Oliver, who tore his biceps while blocking for Will Reichard's 43-yard field goal with 33 seconds remaining in Minnesota's 23-16 win at Tampa Bay Sunday, on Injured Reserve.

Receiver Jeshaun Jones completed a three-game suspension by the NFL and reverted to the 53-man roster.

Minnesota on Tuesday also terminated the contract of punter Johnny Hekker, who signed to Minnesota's practice squad last week before signing to the 53-man roster on Saturday. Hekker filled in for undrafted rookie Brett Thorson, who suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2 at Chicago.

Hekker punted eight times for 372 yards, averaging 46.5 yards and netting 41.5. He placed two inside the Buccaneers 20-yard line and booted a long of 63 on his action-packed day. Hekker also cleanly held for two extra points and three field goals by Reichard, who has made 26 consecutive field goals.

Additionally, Minnesota signed outside linebacker Kenny Dyson, Jr., to its practice squad. Dyson has appeared in two career NFL games (with Carolina in 2024) and played for Minnesota in the preseason. He recorded the lone Vikings sack against the Ravens, as one of his two QB hits against Baltimore, and added one tackle and one QB hit at Denver.

The Vikings also released running backs Jerome Ford and Jaret Patterson and defensive lineman Jonathan Harris from their practice squad.
