Justin Jefferson Breaks Randy Moss' NFL Record for Yards Through 6 Seasons

MINNEAPOLIS — Justin Jefferson put another record under his Christmas tree.

The receiver hauled in a 10-yard reception from undrafted rookie Max Brosmer with less than three minutes remaining in Minnesota's 23-10 win over Detroit.

The snag moved the chains, set up a 42-yard field goal by Will Reichard and helped the Vikings seal the deal to improve to 8-8 on the season.

It also moved him past Vikings Ring of Honor and Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss for the most receiving yards in an NFL player's first six seasons.

The moment was recognized on the video boards at U.S. Bank Stadium, drawing a significant cheer from an electric crowd.

"It definitely feels good," Jefferson answered when asked about that moment. "It's always a dream to compete against the best to ever do it, a Hall of Famer, especially one of the faces of this franchise, so it's great."

Jefferson entered the game needing 27 to top the record for a player's first six NFL seasons that Moss set in Purple (8,375 from 1998-2003). He finished with 30 on four catches, improving his season total to 947 with one game remaining.

Last week, Jefferson passed Jarvis Landry (564) for the most catches by a player in his first six NFL seasons. Cowboys receiver and Jefferson's 2020 draft classmate CeeDee Lamb also passed Landry by one in Week 16. Lamb added five more catches Thursday to open Week 17 and has 570 going into the 2025 regular-season finale.

Jefferson entered Thursday's game with 567 and now has 571.

He will try to outpace Lamb (Dallas plays the Giants in Week 18) next week against Green Bay and record at least 53 receiving yards to make it six consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards.

Moss and Mike Evans are the only players who recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of their first six seasons.
