One could argue that the quarterback position in the NFL is the most important position in all of sports. As such, it's hard not to be drawn to the quarterbacks while watching events such as the Senior Bowl. It's similarly difficult to avoid drawing quick conclusions on these quarterbacks.

With that being said, here's an initial analysis of this year's Senior Bowl quarterbacks after watching them in action for one practice.

North
Tajh Boyd (Clemson): Good presence, displayed both touch and velocity on intermediate and short throws, not a lot of success on deep throws, sound throwing motion. (scroll down to watch a video on Boyd)

Stephen Morris (Miami): Threw a lot of deep balls, tight spiral, good velocity, accuracy and placement inconsistent, poised, good footwork.

Logan Thomas (Virginia Tech): Impressive size and presence, commands the ball but erratic at times, lots of checkdowns.* (scroll down to watch a video on Thomas)*

South
Derek Carr (Fresno State): Compact delivery, scans field well, live arm, good touch, inconsistent footwork but mostly okay.

David Fales (San Jose State): Looks the part, average velocity, good feel for the pocket, mobile.

Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois): Tremendously quick release, live arm, quick decision-maker, good velocity and accuracy, tight spiral, looks the part.
