Diggs, Newman Active for Cowboys Game

MINNEAPOLIS –Stefon Diggs will take the Thursday Night Football stage tonight after being sidelined last week with a knee injury.

Diggs, who turned 23 on Tuesday, wanted only to return to the field and find a win over Dallas for his birthday.

He's halfway there.

"I hate watching," Diggs said of missing the Thanksgiving Day game. "I'm a competitor. One side of me likes to see my guys do well, but the other side of me is, 'Get your [butt] out in the game and make some plays"

Diggs currently leads the team with 67 catches for 747 receiving yards.

Also active tonight is cornerback Terence Newman, who also missed the game at Detroit. Newman was on this week's injury report with a neck injury but was a full participant in Tuesday and Wednesday's practices.

Newman, in his NFL season and second with the Vikings, was drafted by the Cowboys and spent the first nine seasons of his professional career with Dallas.

Tonight marks just the second time Newman has faced his former team. He last played them on Dec. 9, 2012, as a member of the Bengals.

"Being drafted by their organization, being in their locker room with those guys, knowing how the guys are, he's definitely going to have a big game," said cornerback Captain Munnerlyn. "I'm expecting big things from him."

Designated as inactive for tonight's game are quarterback Taylor Heinicke, cornerback Mackensie Alexander, cornerback Marcus Sherels, center Joe Berger, offensive tackle Rashod Hill, defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd and defensive end Stephen Weatherly.

Berger, who suffered a concussion in last week's game, will be replaced at center by Nick Easton.
