EAGAN, Minn. — Carson Wentz will be the Vikings starting quarterback in the Windy City.
Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell spoke with media members Friday and announced Wentz will be making his 100th career start.
Kyler Murray started Minnesota's season opener against Green Bay last week but was sidelined early with a concussion, prompting Wentz to step in. Murray progressed through the league-mandated protocol this week but was ruled out Friday.
O'Connell on Wednesday noted Murray had been attending team meetings, and he was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
In Murray's brief outing against the Packers, he was 3-of-5 passing for 18 yards. His first pass was intercepted.

Wentz finished last Sunday's game 12-of-19 passing for 133 yards and three touchdowns for a passer rating of 123.5 that helped the Vikings pull off a second-half comeback win. Teammates and coaches spoke highly of the veteran's ability to stay calm in a high-pressure situation and lead the huddle despite taking almost no first-team reps throughout training camp and the preseason.
This Sunday's NFC North matchup will mark Wentz's sixth start as a Viking. He joined Minnesota as a free agent just before the start of last season and started five contests, during which he was 110-of-169 passing for 1,216 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. His passer rating was 85.8.
"You never ever feel with Carson like it's too big for him — and that speaks to his experience," O'Connell said Monday. "And all of that leads to him being in this role now. Not one person thought Carson was going to in there and do anything else."
