Where Vikings Rank in 2019 Strength of Schedule

The Vikings know who they'll face in 2019 and where, but the when will be announced in April.

Based on opponents' win percentage in 2018, the Vikings will have the ninth-toughest schedule as they try to rebound from a disappointing 8-7-1 season.

Minnesota's 2019 opponents went 130-124-2 for a win percentage of .512.

Minnesota will host Chicago (12-4), Green Bay (6-9-1), Detroit (6-10), Philadelphia (9-7), Washington (7-9), Atlanta (7-9), Denver (6-10) and Oakland (4-12).

The Vikings will visit Chicago (12-4), Green Bay (6-9-1), Detroit (6-10), Dallas (10-6), the New York Giants (5-11), Seattle (10-6), Kansas City (12-4) and the Los Angles Chargers (12-4).

That means the Vikings will play six games against teams that won 10 or more games in 2018 and seven against foes that made the playoffs.

Five of their eight road games will be against teams that won 10 or more.

Since realigning to eight, four-team divisions in 2002, the NFL uses a rotational system to make its schedule.

In addition to division home-and-aways, the NFC North teams will each play the teams from the NFC East and AFC West. The other two games are determined by respective order of finish (NFC North No. 2 vs. NFC South No. 2 and NFC West No. 2).

That last caveat is designed to increase parity and the number of competitive games each season.

While each NFL season is separate from the previous, numerous coaching changes will be put in motion this month and rosters will be changed through free agency in March and the draft in April, opponents' win percentage provides a slight baseline for 2019.
