What'd They Say: Jaguars Talk About Vikings

As the Vikings and Jaguars prepare to face each other Sunday, a focus for each team is to eliminate mistakes.

Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley knows all about mistakes on offense, mainly through Jacksonville's 15 interceptions over 12 games. Bradley said he recognizes a lot of talent on Minnesota's offense, and he knows that if penalties and turnovers are removed from the equation, the Vikings have the tools offensively to perform at a high level.

"We just had a team meeting and were talking about the skill players. They stand out to you," Bradley told Twin Cities media members via conference call Wednesday. "[Stefon] Diggs is a tremendous get, 75 receptions. He's been hurt but is a guy who will catch your eye, and I think they have great awareness with where he is on the field. [Adam] Thielen, [Kyle] Rudolph, it's a group of receivers that is very talented."

Bradley pointed out that turnovers have gone up for Minnesota in the past seven games. After starting out 5-0 with only one lost fumble, the Vikings have had three passes intercepted and lost five fumbles over the second stretch of the season.

"Some of the same aspects of us," Bradley said. "When you turn the ball over, all of a sudden you start seeing these games that you lose that are one-possession games, and you can direct it toward ball security and making good decisions with the ball."

Here are some highlights of what the Jaguars said about the Vikings this week:

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles on Xavier Rhodes:

"I think he's an extremely good player. He's bigger, he's a rangy corner, and he runs extremely well. He's going to be tough. He's an unbelievable athlete that has now been in the NFL a couple of years and played some good ball, so he's going to be a challenge. I think it will be cool for us, back-to-back weeks going up against some good corners, so I'm excited for Allen [Hurns] and Marquise [Lee] and these guys to play against Xavier, [Terence] Newman and some more good corners."

Jaguars Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on Vikings defense:

"They are a very sound defense across the board. I mean, they have a lot of really good players that are really disciplined and execute that defensive scheme very well. They're a four-down front, and they have some good defensive ends at the point of attack. Their safeties are good, obviously a big hit for them with [Harrison Smith being injured]. And Xavier Rhodes, he's really come along. I think as a corner, he's really doing well. And Newman is another guy, a veteran, that's been around forever. I remember going against him a long time ago. So they're just a really good, sound team. The linebackers, all of them, they run well, they tackle well, they're disciplined and just really fundamentally sound."

Jaguars Defensive Coordinator Todd Wash on pressuring Sam Bradford:

"[Pressuring] is important any time you play a good quarterback, and definitely Sam's one of them in our league. They're doing some things protection-wise with a lot of chips and things on the defensive ends, the ball's coming out extremely fast. So with the defensive line, we have to find a way to get after him and hit him, but at the same time, if it's coming out fast, we have to get our hands up, get some tipped balls and get some opportunities for our guys in the back end to get some interceptions."

Bradley on watching the Vikings as a Minnesota native:

"Yeah, growing up in southern Minnesota, I loved the Vikings. I got a chance to watch them practice in Mankato when they had Chuck Foreman, Fran Tarkenton and the Purple People Eaters. I can remember being so involved, like a typical fan, you cried when they lost big games. I know how passionate the Minnesota fans are and how much they love that team. They've got a lot of great tradition up there, and I have a lot of respect for that organization."
