Mankato, MN (August 9, 2016) – The Minnesota Vikings have announced that Kevin McDermotthas signed a contract extension with the club.
McDermott handled all snapping duties in his 1st season with the Vikings, helping K Blair Walsh connect on an NFL-leading 34 FGs in 2015. The Nashville, Tenn., native has appeared in 39 career regular season games with the Vikings (16), Ravens (7) and 49ers (16) and 4 postseason contests.
The former UCLA Bruin delivered snaps on a pair of Blair Walsh's game-winning field goals in 2015 – a 36-yarder as time expired at Chicago (11/1) and a 40-yarder in OT vs. St. Louis (11/8) – helping Minnesota to a 11-5 record and the club's first NFC North crown since 2009.
Prior to joining the Vikings, McDermott saw action in 7 games with Baltimore in 2014 and played in all 16 regular season and 3 playoff games for San Francisco as a rookie in 2013, helping the 49ers advance to the NFC Championship Game.
McDermott was teammates with 2016 Vikings free agent pickup G Alex Boone in San Francisco and snapped to P Jeff Locke at UCLA during the 2011-12 campaigns.
