Vikings Sign G Bryan Witzmann, Place Aviante Collins on IR

Eagan, Minn. (September 10, 2018) – The Minnesota Vikings announced the team has signed guard Bryan Witzmann and placed tackle Aviante Collins on the Injured Reserve on Monday.

Witzmann (6-7, 320) joins the Vikings active roster after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs on September 3, 2018. Witzmann, entering his 3rd NFL season, was originally acquired by the Chiefs off waivers from Dallas in 2016. Witzmann began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans and has spent time with the Texans, New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys organizations since 2014.

In 2017, Witzmann started 13 games at left guard for the Chiefs and saw action in 11 games in 2016. Attending South Dakota State, the offensive lineman started every game in his four-year career, logging a school-record 49 consecutive starts. Witzmann was named an FCS All-American twice. He was also a four-time member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll and receipient of the MVFC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.
