Vikings Sign Abdullah to 53, Elevate Dozier & Nickerson Before Home Opener

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Saturday announced they have signed running back Ameer Abdullah from their practice squad to their 53-man roster.

The signing occurred a day ahead of Minnesota's 2021 home opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Abdullah was added in a similar move before last week's game against the Cardinals in Arizona.

The veteran adds depth to a backfield that includes running backs Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison, as well as fullback C.J. Ham. Cook was listed as questionable for the game in the final injury report of Week 3.

In order to make room on the 53-man roster for Abdullah, Minnesota waived tackle Blake Brandel.

The Vikings also announced the standard elevations of guard Dakota Dozier and cornerback Parry Nickerson from the practice squad.
