Vikings-Rams Gameday Updates

3:27 PM – Marcus Sherels returned the punt for 26 yards. Adrian Peterson ran for 11 yards on third down to take the Vikings into field goal territory at the 31-yard-line. A few more rushes for the Vikings takes Minnesota to the 22-yard-line.

Vikings kicker Blair Walsh sinks the game winning 40-yard field goal for the second week in a row. Minnesota wins the game 21-18! SKOL!

3:27 PM – The Vikings and Rams are headed into overtime. Minnesota won the toss and elected to defend first. St. Louis started the ball on the 20-yard-line after a touchback on the kickoff. The defense chased down Todd Gurley on the first play for a six yard loss. A screen pass to Tayvon Austin on second down when for no gain. On third down QB Nick Foles through an incomplete pass on a strong Vikings pass rush.

3:18 PM – The Vikings went three-and-out as the Rams used all three timeouts.

Jeff Locke kicked the ball back to the Rams with 1:27 remaining. Tayvon Austin returned the punt back to the Rams own 39-yard line. A pass interference call was called for a 17-yard penalty on Vikings CB Trae Waynes.

After a ten-yard offensive holding penalty on the Rams, Zuerlein made a 52-yard field goal to tie the game 18-18 with 12 seconds remaining in the game. The Vikings have two timeouts

3:07 PM –The Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein misses a 48-yard field goal attempt, and the Vikings take the ball back with 1:42 remaining in the game.

3:05 PM – Todd Gurley had consecutive 16-yard and nine-yard rushing gains bringing St. Louis into Vikings territory.

At the two minute warning, the Rams are on the Vikings 33-yard-line on second down with nine yards to go.

2:59 PM –The Vikings reclaimed the ball with 6:48 remaining in the game on their own 30-yard-line. Adrian Peterson surpassed 100 yards for the fourth time this season on a four-yard run for the first play of the drive.

On a third down play, Shaun Hill threw an incomplete pass to Jarius Wright, that was broken up by the Rams defense. The Rams will get the ball back with just over five minutes remaining.

2:35 PM –Teddy Bridgewater has been knocked out of the game.

Bridgewater took off on a run, gave himself up by sliding and was hit late and with a forearm to the head.

He has been taken to the locker room to undergo concussion protocol. The Vikings punted to end that drive and the Rams have it 1st and 10 from the STL 27 trailing by 3 with 12:01 to play in the game.

2:08 PM –The Vikings have reclaimed the lead.

On 3rd and 3 from the 6, Teddy Bridgewater dropped back to pass, saw the middle of the field open up, and sprinted forward for the TD. The score put the Vikings ahead 16-15, so Mike Zimmer elected to go for 2.

And Teddy ran it in again. He executed a play action fake to Adrian Peterson, rolled out to his right, was pressured and found no one open, so he pulled the ball down and dove into the end zone for the 2-point conversion.

The Vikings lead 18-15 with 8:39 to go in the 3rd quarter.

1:35 PM –The Rams are on a roll.

After going down 10-0 to start the game, the Rams have now scored 15 unanswered points and lead the Vikings 15-10 at halftime.

Greg Zeurlein added another FG right before halftime to extend the Rams lead.

1:17 PM –Another Greg Zuerlein FG has the Rams on top late in the first half.

The Vikings defense bent but didn't break, allowing the Rams to drive 12 plays and 578 yards but not allowing them into the end zone.

The Vikings offense now has a chance to give the defense a rest and drive for points to try and get the lead back before halftime.

12:59 PM –It took a 61-yard FG to do it, but the Rams salvaged a score on their last drive.

Yes, K Greg Zuerlein nailed a 61-yard try with the wind at his back. Solid plays by Chad Greenway and then by Captain Munnerlyn forced the long FG try, but the Rams are the ones feeling good after that converted attempt.

With 10:55 to play in the 2nd quarter, the Vikings lead the Rams 10-9.

12:41 PM –Todd Gurley responds.

Adrian Peterson has a TD and now Gurley does, too. He scored on a 1-yard plunge. On the play, Anthony Barr hit him mid-air and knocked him backwards, but a second effort got Gurley into the end zone.

The Rams went for 2 points after the TD, trying another Gurley run. But Linval Joseph swallowed it up. The Vikings lead is now 10-6.

12:31 PM –It's a touchdown. It's a red zone touchdown!

The Vikings have a 10-0 lead early in the game over St. Louis, and the latest score came on a 6-yard TD run by Adrian Peterson on which he went untouched around the right end.

Play action bootleg completions to Kyle Rudolph and MyCole Pruitt were key on the drive, as was a 25-yard completion from Teddy Bridgewater to Charles Johnson.

12:18 PM –The Vikings strike first.

It was on a Blair Walsh FG from 34 yards. He has now made 14 consecutive FGs.

The Vikings reached the red zone but stalled once again. Red zone offense has been an issue for the Vikings of late, but Walsh has been excellent at salvaging scores.

The Vikings lead 3-0 with 8:56 to go in the 1st quarter and the defense has already forced a Rams punt on the ensuing drive. It's Vikings ball on the MN 25.

11:38 AM –Depth will be tested at key spots for both teams today.

The Vikings will be without starting DT Sharrif Floyd and starting middle LB Eric Kendricks. Tom Johnson will start for Floyd while Audie Cole gets the start for Kendricks. Cole is a big, physical LB who is good against the run, so this is a good matchup for him. Johnson has played well for the Vikings dating back to last season and has already demonstrated he can produce in a starting role.

The Rams are banged up, too. They will be without sack leader Robert Quinn as well as fellow starting DE Chris Long. Also out for the Rams are S TJ McDonald and RT Rob Havenstein. The loss of Havenstein is noteworthy because the Rams were already banged up along the OL. Now, starting LG Garrett Reynolds will move to RT and rookie Andrew Donnal will step in at LG. The Rams are already without starting RG Rodger Saffold, who has been replaced by rookie Jamon Brown.

10:30 AM- Here are today's inactive players for the Vikings:

QB Taylor Heinicke

LB Eric Kendricks

C Nick Easton

DT Sharrif Floyd

DE Justin Trattou

Audie Cole will start in place of Kendricks at middle linebacker.

For the Rams, they will be without, among others, standout DE Robert Quinn. Their full list of inactives is as follows:
