Vikings Legend Ahmad Rashad is Honorary Captain vs. Packers

Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Ahmad Rashad, will serve as Honorary Captain for Sunday's game vs Green Bay.

"It's going to be a great atmosphere," Rashad said. "I truly understand the rivalry – it's one of the greatest in football. I'm so psyched."

Rashad's last visit to a Vikings home game was December 2010, when he was named as one of the 50 Greatest Vikings of all time. That game also was played at the University of Minnesota, where the Vikings (7-2) will face the Packers (6-3) at 3:25 p.m. (CT) with first place in the NFC North on the line.

Rashad (1976-82) tallied 400 receptions for 5,489 yards and 34 touchdowns in 7 seasons with the Vikings. His signature moment in Purple came in Week 15 of the 1980 season. Down 23-22 to Cleveland with five seconds left. Rashad streaked down the sideline and caught the game-winning touchdown. Tommy Kramer's 46 yard Hail Mary pass to Rashad delivered a 28-23 Vikings victory and the team's 11th Central Division title.
