Vikings History at Current Draft Pick Selections

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. —** The Vikings hold eight picks in the 2016 NFL Draft, which is less than a week away.

The Vikings currently hold picks No. 23 (first round), No. 54 (second round), No. 86 (third round), No. 121 (fourth round), No. 160 (fifth round) and No. 180 (sixth round), plus No. 240 and No. 244 in the seventh and final round.

Some picks, such as Minnesota's No. 23 selection, are familiar. The Vikings recently drafted out of the same spot in 2013 when they took defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd.

But Minnesota has never had the 160th pick in its franchise history.

Here's a quick look at the history of the 21 players at each pick the Vikings currently hold:

No. 23

Besides Floyd, the Vikings also selected wide receiver Lance Rentzel at this spot in 1965. Click here for more info on the pair of players.

No. 54

Minnesota nabbed tackle Phil Loadholt here in 2009. Loadholt has made 89 career starts and is the only player in this article on the active roster besides Floyd. The Vikings drafted tight end Mike Jones here in 1990, and he played two seasons with the franchise. Safety Brad Edwards was picked here in 1988. Wide receiver Sammy White was the 54th pick in 1976 before becoming Rookie of the Year and a two-time Pro Bowler in 10 seasons with Minnesota.

No. 86

Cornerback Asher Allen was selected one round after Loadholt in 2009. The former Georgia standout picked off four passes in three seasons. Defensive back Mike Townsend was picked here in 1974 but opted to play in the World Football League.

No. 121

The Vikings selected quarterback Chad May in the fourth round in 1995 but he spent just one season in Minnesota. Running back Doug Paschal (1980-81), who was picked here in 1980, rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown. Running back Corny Davis was selected at No. 121 in 1969 but never played for the Vikings.

No. 160

This will be the first time the Vikings have picked here in franchise history.

No. 180

The list of players at this spot includes: LB Gene Mack in 1971 out of Texas-El Paso, WR/DB Terry Egerdahl in 1976 out of Minnesota-Duluth, DT John Haines in 1984 out of Texas, S Tripp Welborne in 1991 out of Michigan and P Eddie Johnson in 2003 out of Idaho State.

No. 240
