Vikings Hire Demitrius Washington as Vice President of Football Operations

Eagan, Minn. (May 16, 2022) – The Minnesota Vikings announce the hiring of Demitrius Washington as vice president of football operations. In his role, he will help manage football operations, while contributing to the executive team in decision-making. Washington, who spent the past seven seasons in the San Francisco 49ers' football research and development department, brings nine total seasons of NFL experience to the Vikings front office.

"We couldn't be more excited to have Demitrius join the Vikings front office," General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said. "He is one of the most uniquely gifted people I have met in my time in the NFL. He is able to learn complex ideas, make them simple, and apply them in all facets of the organization. He has learned from some of the best minds in the game today and he will continue to flourish in his role with Vikings."

In his previous role as manager of football research and development for the 49ers from 2020-21, Washington managed and oversaw the department's efforts in optimization and process improvement and developed predictive and statistical analysis for player evaluation, acquisition and strategy.

Prior to his role as manager of football research and development, he served as the 49ers analyst for the football research and development department from 2015-20, where he worked alongside Adofo-Mensah. Washington got his start in the NFL as a game charter intern for the Cleveland Browns from 2013-15.

Washington received his bachelor's in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Central Arkansas in 2011, where he served as president and treasurer for the Beta Delta chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, on campus. He also obtained his master's of business administration with an emphasis in finance and analytics from the University of Missouri in 2014.
