Vikings DC George Edwards to Coach in East-West Shrine Game

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Vikings Defensive Coordinator George Edwards has been selected as one of the head coaches of the 92nd East-West Shrine Game.

Edwards will coach the West team composed of college all-stars against an East team coached by Arizona Cardinals defensive line coach Brentson Buckner. Both were announced Tuesday:

This is the first year that the coaching staffs for the game that originated in 1925 have been selected from NFL coaches.

Edwards and Buckner were nominated for the duties and selected after a review by a panel that includes NFL Operations staff, East-West Shrine Game leadership and two members of the NFL's General Managers Advisory Committee.

Both will be able to fill staffs from a pool of candidates to help coach the annual all-star game, which will be held on Jan. 21 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
