Vikings-Chiefs Gameday Updates

View images from Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs.

3:10 PM– Teddy and the Vikings would knee the ball down a few times to kill the remaining time off the clock. Minnesota wins the game 16-10.

Bridgewater finished the game with 249 yards on 17 completions. He threw for one passing touchdown and tossed two interceptions. Stefon Diggs led all recievers with 129 yards on seven receptions. RB Adrian Peterson ran the ball 26 times for 60 yards on the day.

3:00 PM –The Vikings take over again. On a fourth down from the Chiefs own 32-yard-line QB Alex Smith threw an incomplete pass intended for Albert Wilson. The Vikings take over the ball with 2:00 remaining after losing 15 yards on a taunting penalty after the play.

2:52 PM – The Chiefs began the drive with a 37-yard pass from Smith to TE Travis Kelce. West ran the ball a few plays later and DE Danielle Hunter forced a fumble on the carry. Robison recovered the fumble.

2:47 PM– Blair Walsh hits his third field goal of the game, after the Vikings could not convert on a third down with one yard to go. The field goal was good for 45 yards. The drive went 53 yards for 10 plays and the Chiefs will have the ball with 4:46 remaining trailing 16-10.

2:38 PM –And, we have a ballgame.

The Vikings defense has played well all game, but the offense hasn't been able to take advantage and now the Chiefs have creeped to within 3 points thanks to a 42-yard TD on a WR screen from Alex Smith to Albert Wilson.

The Vikings lead 13-10 with 8:46 to play and suddenly need offensive production to keep their lead.

2:26 PM –It's a shutout no more.

Kansas City got on the board with a 48-yard FG. Captain Munnerlyn had pass breakups on back-to-back plays, plus there was a 15-yard personal foul against Kansas City – that is what forced Kansas City to try a FG.

The Vikings lead 13-3 with 13:10 to go in the 4th quarter.

1:53 PM –Blair Walsh has done it again.

He split the uprights on a 45-yard try to salvage another scoring drive and increase the Vikings lead to 13-0 with 8:51 to play.

Key plays on the drive, the first series for the Vikings offense in the second half, were a 23-yard rush by Adrian Peterson and a 15-yard gain on a WR screen by Stefon Diggs.

The Vikings defense forced yet another Chiefs punt on the first series of the 3rd quarter. Kansas City now has six offensive possessions and six punts.

1:08 PM –The Vikings finally converted in the red zone.

Teddy Bridgewater found TE Kyle Rudolph in the end zone on 3rd and goal from the 4 to cap an 11-play, 51 yard drive that consumed 6:09 of the game clock and increased the lead to 10-0 following Blair Walsh's PAT.

The Chiefs defense has played well, holding Adrian Peterson to 15 yards on 15 carries. But Bridgewater and the passing game have responded, moving the ball well down the field in chunks while also converting 3rd downs.

With 4:43 to play in the first half, the Vikings lead 10-0 and the Chiefs have the ball 1st and 10 from their own 20.

12:39 PM –Some Vikings rookies are in big spots today, and they are playing well so far.

Getting their first starts today are WR Stefon Diggs and DE Danielle Hunter. Diggs has 4 catches for 81 yards already and Hunter is part of a defense that is forcing Kansas City to punt early in the game. RT TJ Clemmings is starting his 5th game and is facing one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. Lastly, LB Eric Kendricks started and already has a sack – on a 3rd down.

The Vikings have a 3-0 lead and the ball on their own 37 with the 2nd quarter about to begin.

12:24 PM –Another red zone drive stalls for the Vikings, but this time Blair Walsh came on to salvage a score.

Teddy Bridgewater had another important series of completions to move the Vikings down the field, connecting with Stefon Diggs for 13 yards on 3rd and 11, but then had to throw a pass out of the end zone when no one was open on 3rd down.

The Vikings lead 3-0 with 5:40 to go in the opening quarter.

12:09 PM –A promising drive ends in a turnover.

Teddy Bridgewater completed two 3rd downs – completions of 16 yards to Stefon Diggs and 53 yards to Jarius Wright. But on the third 3rd down of the drive – 3rd and goal from the 15 – Bridgewater had a pass tipped and then intercepted in the end zone by S Ron Parker.

Kansas City took over 1st and 10 from their own 4. They went three-and-out, and are punting.
