Vikings-Chargers Gameday Updates

View images from the third game of 2015 as the Vikings played host to the Chargers.

3:08 PM -The Chargers drove 89 yards in 14 plays ending with a pass from Rivers to Kennan Allen for his second touchdown of the game. The score came with 8:39 remaining.

That would be the last score of the game for both teams and the Vikings sealed the victory at a final score of 31-14.

Adrian Peterson led the Vikings and racked up 126 Rush yds with two TDs. Teddy Bridgewater went 13-24 with one interception on the day.

Keenan Allen had 12 receptions for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Chargers.

2:29 PM –Greenway went all the way.

Philip Rivers' pass was deflected and Greenway was there to collect it for the INT. After securing the INT, he broke to the Vikings sideline and used a 10-man convoy to get to the end zone.

Blair Walsh put up the PAT and now the Vikings lead 31-7 early in the 4th quarter.

2:13 PM –Zach Line has scored TDs in consecutive games.

Adrian Peterson continued to overpower the Chargers defense, the Chargers were guilty of holding on a Blair Walsh FG, and Zach Line finished it all up with a 1-yar TD plunge. He also scored last week against the Detroit Lions.

The Vikings drive was 16 plays, 86 yards and took 7:19 off the clock in the 3rd quarter. The TD and PAT increased the Vikings lead to 24-7 with 2:42 to play in the 3rd quarter.

1:45 PM – Handoff. Stiff arm. Cutback. High step. Touchdown.

That's what Adrian Peterson did on the Vikings first offensive snap of the 2nd half. The Vikings defense forced a Chargers punt to open the 3rd quarter. After Marcus Sherels punt return to near midfield, Peterson took a Teddy Bridgewater handoff and he took it 43 yards to the end zone.

The Vikings now lead 17-7 early in the 3rd quarter.

1:28 PM –The Chargers scored a TD but the focal point of the play is the health of Vikings CB Xavier Rhodes.

Philip Rivers hit Keenan Allen for a score. On the play, Vikings S Andrew Sendejo collided with Rhodes, who remained face down on the turn after the play. Eventually, Rhodes got up on his feet and gingerly made his way to the sideline.

No further update at this time on Rhodes.

With 1:12 to play in the 1st half, the Vikings lead 10-7.

1:04 -DE Justin Trattou (ankle) has been ruled out for today's game, however WR Charles Johnson (ribs) will return to the game.

12:55 PM –Adrian found the end zone, and now the Vikings lead 10-0 early in the 2nd quarter.

There were several key plays, the first of which was a 22-yard completion to Mike Wallace on 3rd and long. The ball was perfectly-placed, Wallace caught it and tip-toed to secure the reception. A few moments later, Bridgewater found Matt Asiata for 5 yards on another 3rd down and then hit Jarius Wright for a big gain to inside the SD 5.

That's when Peterson finished the drive, following Rhett Ellison up the middle for a 2-yard plunge to give him his 92nd career TD, his first TD since 2013, and the Vikings a 10-0 lead following Blair Walsh's PAT.

12:45 PM –Thanks to the defense, the Vikings are on the board.

Anthony Barr sacked Philip Rivers and forced him to fumble. Captain Munnerlyn recovered the fumble.

But the offense couldn't turn it into a TD. Adrian Peterson began the drive with a burst up the middle for 6 yards, but then a short gain on another rush by Peterson and an incompletion on 3rd down stalled the drive.

Blair Walsh salvaged a score, though, hitting a 24-yard FG to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead with 1:15 to play in the 1st quarter.

In injury news, both WR Charles Johnson (ribs) and DE Justin Trattou (leg) have left the game.

12:25 PM –A big turn of events, and it's in favor of the San Diego Chargers.

After the teams exchanged punts on each of their first possessions, the Vikings put together a nice drive thanks a 21-yard dash by Adrian Peterson into Chargers territory. A few moments later, Teddy Bridgewater dropped a dime into Kyle Rudolph's hands in the end zone. But Rudolph was unable to bring it in, perhaps losing it in the sun.

To make matters worse, Bridgewater tried to find Charles Johnson in the end zone on the next snap and the pass was intercepted by Steve Williams.

No score, and San Diego has the ball in Vikings territory.
