Vikings-Cardinals Gameday Updates

10:25 PM - Veteran DE Dwight Freeney gets to Teddy on the final play of the game to force a fumble. The Cardnials recover the ball and seal the win 23-20.

10:16 PM - Catanzaro's kick is good from 47 yards for a 23-20 Cards lead with 1:23 remaining on the clock. Vikings have one timeout left.

10:00 PM- Gigantic drive by the Vikings capped with 7-yard TD pass from Teddy to Mike Wallace on a crossing route all the way across the field.

Tie game 20-20 with 4:55 to play.

9:50 PM - A holding penalty on Josh Robinson is called during a 33-yard return by Sherels. Costs 43 yards of field position.

9:43 PM - The Vikings open possession with solid runs by Adrians Peterson, and get to the Arizona 36-yard-line with a pass to Mike Wallace.

The drive stalls, but Bridgewater does a great job of keeping Minnesota in Blair Walsh's range. A 54-yard FG makes it 20-13 Cardinals. Also note that the drive started in good field position with a 41-yard return by Cordarrelle Patterson.

9:33 PM- A huge stop by the Vikings keeps the Cardinals out of the end zone.

CB Xavier Rhodes hustled to tackle RB David Johnson two yards shy of the goal line followed by a run stuff. A sack by Everson Griffen and a tackle shy of the mark end the third quarter.

20-10 Cardinals after the field goal.

9:11 PM - The Cardinals convert turnover into a tocudhwon.

Arizona capitalizes on a missed assignment on a pass to WR Michael Floyd. WR Larry Fitzgerald was the closest to Floyd and provided a block most receivers wouldn't to spring Floyd to the endzone on a 43-yard score.

9:05 PM- A trick play goes awry.

Peterson is tackled and fumbles the ball as he tries to hand the ball off to WR Mike Wallace. Another promising drive ends with a Vikings fumble. Cardinals ball at the Arizona 43-yard-line.

8:41 PM - Vikings K Blair Walsh is on the money from 44 yards to tie the game 10-10 with two seconds left in the first half.

A big completion from Teddy Bridgewater to rookie TE MyCole Pruitt gained 32 during the drive. Teddy was smart and protective with the football to make sure the Vikings got three points on that drive.

8:30 PM - The Vikings slid Brian Robison to one of the DT spots, brought Danielle Hunter from the edge and the rookie comes up with a sack to take Arizona out of field goal range. Huge swing for the Vikings.

The 40-yard punt results in touchback.

8:27 PM - Xavier Rhodes returns with his wrist taped up; Terence Newman was at other corner on the last play.

8:22 PM - CB Xavier Rhodes is shaken up.

He had a grip on RB David Johnson when S Anthony Harris came to help out from the safety spot.

The Vikings bring in Robert Blanton at safety, move Terence Newman back to cornerback.

8:19 PM - The Vikings moved the ball well, getting 41 yards on a screen to TE Rhett Ellison (career long reception), and had a nice gain in the works, but Deone Bucannon forced and recovered a fumble at the AZ 15.

The Cardinals take over the ball for the Vikings 15-yard-line.

8:11 PM- The Vikings force a punt with two incompletions on three plays.

The punt was fair caught at the 10-yard-line by Marcus Sherels; CB Trae Waynes was in coverage on WR Michael Floyd on Carson Parlmer's third-down misfire.

8:06 PM - First quarter stats:

QB Teddy Bridgewater 4-of-5 passing for 48 yards; QB Carson Palmer 10-of-12 for 127; RB Adrian Peterson five carries, 39 yards, 1 TD; RB David Johnson seven carries, 28 yards

7:59 PM - The Cardinals strike back quickly via a 65-yard TD pass from Carson Palmer to John Brown, who hit another gear down the sideline. AZ leads 10-7

7:51 PM - Adrian Peterson caps the drive with his 100th career touchdown, a 9-yard run. It's his 95th rushing score. He plowed through arm tackles to pay dirt. It didn't go down until the celebration.

Peterson is the 13th running back in NFL history to score 100 touchdowns.

7:49 PM - Vikings sub in Matt Asiata on third down, Teddy throws a quick screen as Cardinals blitz, and the Vikings gain 23. Teddy follows with completion to Jarius Wright. Adrian Peterson has more rushing yards than Sunday with that 21-yard gain.

7:41 PM - The Vikings make a major hold in the red zone to keep the Cardinals to a field goal.

DE Everson Griffen got enough pressure to force Carson Palmer's first incompletion, a drop by rookie RB David Johnson.

3-0 Cardinals.

6:06 PM - Veteran CB Terence Newman will slide over to safety tonight, due to the rash of injuries the Vikings have suffered at the position in recent weeks.

Four key defensive players – S Harrison Smith, S Andrew Sendejo, LB Anthony Barr, and DT Linval Joseph – were ruled out on Wednesday. Additionally, S Antone Exum Jr. was placed on Injured Reserve this week, which resulted in the signing of free agent S Shaun Prater and practice squad S Anthony Harris being signed to the 53-man roster.

Harris will make his first career start at safety along side Newman, while rookie CB Trae Waynes makes his first career start at cornerback in place of Newman.

S Robert Blanton, who was questionable with a knee injury, is active.

LB Edmond Robinson will start in place of Barr, while DT Tom Johnson replaces Joseph at DT.
