Though many of the Minnesota Vikings starters might not get much playing time during the team's preseason finale Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins, the fans will be featured front and center. For the team's first-annual #Minnesocial game, fans will be able to have their comments on social media shown during the broadcast.
By using the hashtag #Minnesocial on Twitter, fan comments will be shown via ticker on the TV broadcast, which will be shown locally on Fox 9. All comments will be screened, but fans can share their thoughts about in-game plays, who will make the team or season outlook.
Fans will also be able to ask questions to the broadcast crew. Questions will be taken via the hashtag #Minnesocial on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The Voice of the Vikings, Paul Allen, will be answering questions or posing them to other members of the production team – Pete Bercich and Greg Coleman.
General Manager Rick Spielman is scheduled to be in the broadcast booth in the third quarter, and will also be answering questions posed on social media with the hashtag #AskRick.
The preseason telecast will also be shown live on Vikings.com in the United Kingdom, Germany and Mexico. Viewers in those countries will be able to watch live online simply by going to the team's homepage.
Social posts from around the globe using #Minnesocial and #Skol will be shown on a heat map, with some posts being highlighted on the broadcast.
The Vikings will also be working with Snapchat artist Evan Garber on a unique Snap story entitled "Skol Scribbles." The story will feature sketches of Vikings players, transformed into their alter-ego nicknames. To follow along with tonight's Skol Scribbles, click to follow the Vikings on Snapchat
