Uprights Go Upright At U.S. Bank Stadium

Shortly after the certificate of occupancy was awarded, the Vikings wasted no time in getting a head start on moving in.

On Monday morning, a pair of field goal posts were transported from the Vikings headquarters in Eden Prairie to the new downtown stadium where they were put in place. This moves the stadium one step closer to being ready for the Vikings 2016 home opener against San Diego on August 28.

U.S. Bank Stadium Awarded Certificate Of Occupancy By City Of Minneapolis

A major milestone in the construction of U.S. Bank Stadium was reached last week when the state-of-the-art facility was awarded its certificate of occupancy from the city of Minneapolis.

The certificate is issued only after all building inspection agency approvals have been issued and all life safety systems pass tests.

This milestone comes six weeks ahead of schedule and will allow for food and beverage, security, broadcast, audio/video and communications advancements to occur.

A public ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for July 22 with three Vikings Season Ticket Member Orientations to follow in late July/early August.

Earlier this week, the first of the U.S. Bank Places to Play grant recipients were announced.

Launched in conjunction with the stadium naming rights deal last June, U.S. Bank and the Minnesota Vikings will donate $1 million over three years to community-based nonprofit organizations and local schools across Minnesota.

The funding will go towards improving parks, playgrounds and youth sports facilities.

This week, Vikings WR Stefon Diggs presented a check in St. Paul on behalf of the program. In total, seven groups were awarded the grants that totaled $300,000.
