EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings are activating Ty Chandler from Injured Reserve, the team announced Tuesday.

Chandler had been designated for return on Dec. 3, opening a 21-day window during which the team could decide whether or not to elevate him to the active roster.

The running back had been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in Week 1, a game he gritted out and helped the Vikings win at Chicago.

A 2022 fifth-round draft pick, Chandler has played in 38 games for the Vikings. He's made four starts on offense and serves as a reserve running back, as well as contributing heavily on special teams. Chandler has recorded 164 carries for 663 yards and three touchdowns in his career. He's also caught 27 passes for 201 yards.

Chandler increases depth for Minnesota, which could be without Jordan Mason, who left Sunday's game with an ankle injury. Running back Aaron Jones, Sr., also suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's game but was able to return and led all rushers with 21 rushes and 85 yards.
