Ticketmaster Hot Matchup: Adrian Peterson vs. NaVorro Bowman

For Vikings and 49ers fans, Monday night marks the return of regular season football. That is a big moment for any fan base, but the moment is amplified even further by the fact that each team will also welcome back one of its best players. The return of Adrian Peterson to the Vikings backfield and the return of NaVorro Bowman to the 49ers defense is the subject of this week's Ticketmaster Hot Matchup.

After missing 15 games last season and not appearing in the preseason, Peterson will line up in the Vikings backfield for a regular season game for the first time with young QB Teddy Bridgewater. Peterson and Bridgewater give the Vikings offense a good chance to become the balanced attack offensive coordinator Norv Turner desires and should provide fans with plenty of highlights over the course of the season. Peterson enters 2015 just two touchdowns from tying Randy Moss for career regular season touchdowns and nine from becoming only the second player in franchise history to score 100. He also has a god chance to move into fourth on the team's all-time scoring list, where he currently ranks sixth with 548 points behind Moss (564), Fuad Reveiz (598), Ryan Longwell (633), Carter (670) and Fred Cox (1,365).

Bowman, a three-time First-Team All-Pro and the 49ers team MVP in 2013, injured his knee in the 2013 playoffs and missed all of 2014 while recovering. He made his return to the field this preseason and looks as if he hasn't lost a step. He collected 2.0 tackles for loss in his debut in San Francisco's second preseason game and followed that up by leading the team in tackles plus adding 2.0 sacks the following week in Denver. While there the 49ers lost several players this offseason and they have a new head coach in for defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, Bowman is the heart and soul of the team and is a common thread for a proud franchise looking to regain supremacy in the NFC West.
